We loved the resort and location. A very relaxing holiday although I have to agree with a previous reviewer, in that the food is boring and is not 5 star quality. Breakfast was boring except for the french toast and the kids did not find much they wanted to eat. (Neither did I) Meals in the restaurants were hit and miss. Staff also reluctant to accomdate special requests for children (like can we have a banana for breakfast). Rooms were lovely and spacious, staff in the resort outside of the restaurants were friendly and we found the beds to be comfortable and a good size. Reception staff very helpful and the New Year compulsory dinner was really good fun. Lots of open space and activities for children.

We stayed in one of the Beach view Bungalows at Palm Garden for Christmas. In short the place was built like a 5-star resort and the price is like in a 5-star, but in reality it seems like a 3-star pretending to be a 5-star. The breakfast was the most boring we've had on this trip, all though the other hotels we have stayed in (Hanoi, Hue, Halong) have been 3 or 4 stars. Dougnuts obviously made one or two days before, vegetables cut the day before, mediocre service (which was not for lack of staff, but obviously poor management, 15-20 employees would wander around in the restaurant, but you could still sit for five minutes after arriving before someone asked you if you would like some coffe (NOT very 5 star..)). Same thing on the beach restaurant, (which by the way had chairs that would leave brown paint on your clothes and skin when you got up from them). At the pool no one would come by and ask if you wanted to order something to drink, and - since Christmas obviously is not worth it - the pool bar was closed.
The rooms were big, but had some very strange solutions, like hiding the lightswitch low on the wall in a place where the only way to get to it when you needed to go for the toilet in the middle of the night was to get out of bed an fumble around in the dark until your hand crossed it in the dark. Also the air condition was very noisy.
We weren't too lucky with the weather, but you would think that when it rained you would be able to sit and watch the beach under the roof on the porch, but alas, the roof had no canal, so the water would splash all over the terrace and force you inside.
Palm Garden is not a place we will return to. You're just as well off paying half the price in a 3-star with the same level of service and quality.

The setting and overall quality of the resort are great--situated right on the beach and only a short drive into the charming old city. We had a beachfront bungalow, which had an open atrium (no roof!) between the bedroom and bathroom, and it rained 99% of the time we were there. The regular hotel rooms are nearly as nice, albeit farther from the beach, but stay there rather than in the bungalows if you go--it rains a lot!

It was truly a pleasure staying at The Palm Garden Beach Resort. The hotel I was due to stay at was over-booked so I had been moved to the Palm Garden without seeing it. What a beautiful oasis. My spacious room looked out into gardens towards the beach. The setting and location of the hotel was amazing and gardeners constantly kept the grounds looking spotlessly beautiful.
As I was holidaying in November at the time of the North East Monsoon, I didn't get to use the pool or beach either because of strong winds or rain. Service from all the staff I encountered was exemplary. Everyone was helpful, patient, humble and highly professional. I made friends with the philippino band playing at the hotel and even visited the staff accomodation where they lived which was of very high standard.
Having lived in Singapore and previously travelled extensively across South East Asia, I did feel that the rack rate was very expensive. That said, I only stayed 3 nights and I shall definitely be returning for a much longer stay at a different time of the year.

We loved this hotel. It was very clean and the hotel grounds were stunning. Because we travelled in the wet season for Hoi An, we werent able to enjoy the beach or pool and we were only in residence to sleep at night. However, we can comment on the restuarants - the buffet breakfast was fantastic with quality and quantity and room service was top quality. We had to leave at an ungodly hour of 4am but the staff were kind enough to provide a breakfast box to take away, which we have never had before in over 20 years of travelling. We wished we could have stayed longer and during the dry season but thoroughly recommend this hotel.

We had a deluxe sea view room with balcony, it was superb and very clean, although expensive but then you need to pay a bit extra for real quality sometimes and this was well worth it. Had all the 5 star facilities you would expect.
Unfortunately we stayed during the end of the rainy season (Oct-Nov) so we did not get to go on the beach and only stayed by the pool for about 3 hrs.
We would absolutely stay here again.
Hoi An is realy nice, a LOT quieter than Hanoi with some great back street restaurant's and bars. Some advise, don't visit the My Son temples, not much there, but if you go get a guide to take you around.

After spending three nights at the evason Ana mandara in nha trang, we arrived to what we thought was going to be another 5 star experience. I was sorely mistaken. The place felt very corporate and impersonal, with no real charm whataoever. For nearly $200/night in vietnam, I had come to expect a lot more. Uncomfortable bed, loud noises from adjacent rooms and a loud airconditioner. My advice, give it a miss
