The Thahn Van Hotel is located at a great spot on the north-eastern corner of Old Town, very close to both food and the billions of Tailors within Hoi An. Walking from the hotel to the complete opposite end of old town takes about ~10-15 minutes, however there is a bike rental place just out the front of the hotel.

I would say this is one of the better located hotels in Hoi An and it was very easy to get to after being dropped off in front of a different hotel by the Sinh Cafe busses.

My travel partner and I stayed on the 3rd floor in a twin bed set up for 3 nights and were very comfortable the entire stay, often lounging at the front of the hotel lobby playing cards or going for a dip in the pool to cool off. The rooms were clean and very spacey.

The staff were helpful in organising our transport to Hue and are keen to recommend tailors in Hoi An and hotels in other towns.

As Lonely Planet describes, a reasonably good breakfast served by the pool is included with your stay which includes a suprising amount of baked goods, various fruits and your choice of egg style.. which I guess leaves you a bit more money to spend on the tailored clothing.

Good hotel for a very correct price. Swimming pool available, well located in the city (only 5 minute walk to the old town). Room was clean and spacious with everything I needed (ac etc.). Staff was very competent but could be more friendly

Stayed two nights in Hoi an at this hotel. Overall the hotel is pretty good though they could improve on the cleanliness.

Good points:
- super convenient, in the heart of Hoian
-swimming pool that's cleaned daily, practically non existent is this price range in Vietnam. Bizarrely enough the pool is cleaned more frequently than the rooms but more on that later.
- Best breakfast bufffet with lots of tasty food including their white rose specialty and plenty of fruits
- not too expensive
- decent front desk staff (but not out of the way extraordinary. Ie. they will answer questions politely and book tours but will not go out of the way to make conversation and help you)
- arranged a driver with good english skills though i did notice that most people seem to be able to speak decent english in hoi an so maybe it wasn't intentional.
- big room, big spa tub, comfy beds

Bad Points:
- Cleanliness is an issue. Let's just say walking around white socks are not recommended. Shower curtains were mouldy. To their credit, only the floor and curtain seems dirty so perhaps the person doing the laundry is much better than the person doing the cleaning. Definitely recommend the staff learn to clean properly. It's the only hotel in our vietnam trip where I would actually say the room is very obviously dirty. A shame because the rest of the hotel is terrific.
- Our airport driver tried to earn extra commission by "dropping us off at a marble statuette shop for a browse". Actually, the one who took us to my son did too but we figured out the trick and got back into the car. Considering that we paid for his time, this "stopover seems unnecessary"
- Recommendation for dinner was bizarre. They sent us to this place around the corner which did not have good food. You would think the logically place to direct tourists is Hoian old town?
- Tours are overpriced. Booked a cooking class (which is not recommended cuz you don't really cook, more like cooking demo) for $18 each at hotel but real cost is $14. Not a lot for us westerners but it does equate to a 20% markup for something you can easily book on your own. For your reference, the red bridge cooking school is in old town if you do want to do the cooking demo. The food is good though but drinks pricey.
- drinks in the room seem a little dated but then again, that does fit well with the dusty room

Overall I would recommend provided no one in your group has allergies or are germaphobes. Hotel has a lot of potential, they just need to hire someone who can clean or perhaps try cleaning with the lights on :P

Our beds were very comfortable, rooms clean, big bathroom. With WIFI, a pool and free breakfast our stay here was all we could have wanted. The hotel is conveniently located near the centre of the ancient town, which is a delight to explore. We were catching a late night train and they gave us blankets to sleep on their pool chairs free of charge.

My experience here was so great! the rooms were clean, there is a great and cool pool for those weary hot afternoons and a simple but effective buffet breakfast included every morning. I was given a room with a window on the front street and had a great stay. The best bit about it was that the staff were so pleasant, friendly and genuine!
