This family hotel is just beyond the central market, near enough to enjoy but away form the hub bub. The rooms are not vast, but well equipped with water and a bowl of fruit provided daily. The buffet breakfast has western and Vietnamese choices and seating in or outdoors. Free bikes are provide although the 15 minute walk to the centre by the Japanese Bridge is pleasant and easy. Staff are really halpful. I would gladly return.

Room Tip: All good - lower floor rooms have little private courtyard.

A wonderful hotel but some things need addressing. The staff are amazing, the ambience is fantastic and the location if superb BUT read on. We were upgraded to a garden view room as our original room was not available. This was only initially for 3 days. This room was musty and damp as it flooded in the winter and there were two dead cockroaches in the wardrobe but as it was such a beautiful room, overlooking the garden, we stayed. We went inside the hotel, after three days but stayed only for one night as the shower didn't work so we were shifted back to the original upgraded garden view room(so why we're we moved?)and were then told we could have a dehumidifier to combat the damp. This solved the musty problem and we loved the room so much so agreed. If you can, go inside the actual hotel or on the second floor if outside with a garden view, these rooms were no flooded. The internet is available through the flat screen TVs in every room but every day we had problems with it. There is a computer in the reception for emergencies. The restaurant is pretty good and not expensive and it is so pleasant sitting outside in the lovely hotel grounds it is worth doing and you can also take your own wine which is a BIG plus as buying in the restaurants is very expensive. Wines are available in various shops at better prices. You can also stay at your table if on the terrace after the restaurant closes at 10pm and they will keep the lights on for you. Breakfast is served there and it is fantastic, a fabulous choice of dishes. I asked for poached eggs, which weren't 'on the menu' and they were willingly cooked. The staff at breakfast are not quite so friendly but if you make the effort you can get an occasional smile and although service is patchy at breakfast, it is still very good. The road the hotel is on is quiet, we couldn't have asked for a better location. There are some good restaurants along it,the river is a minute's walk away and the market two minutes away. There are motorbike rentals all around but beware the shop/launderette opposite as the bikes are not good and we were cheated on the petrol after giving money for it to be filled up. The hotel have loads of free bicycles which seemed in excellent condition. We stayed at the Ha Ann years ago and it isn't as good but would we stay again? If the new one along the river walk, a few minutes away, was full or if the price had increased on that one (it was half the price of the Ha Ann and brand new) then yes, but I would look at the Ha Ann rooms first to make sure we got a tip top one. Ours could have done with a bit of TLC. I forgot the mention the towels are replaced twice a day if needed.Having written all this I am kind of missing the Ha Ann already. It is that sort of hotel. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Second floor, garden view, but look first and use your noses!

I was impressed by the hotel given that we had paid only 90USD/night. Everything was fantastic - room (had fresh roses), service (welcome fruits and drink), free bike services and breakfast menu. I would definitely recommend to anyone who visits Hoi An

Delightful from the beginning to end of our three-night stay. Warm and charming hospitality, beautiful, comfortable, spotless rooms with the most pleasing amenities, fantastic breakfast, free bikes, helpful front desk staff, lovely gardens. We can't imagine how spectacular the other hotels must be in level of service, decor, and comfort, if the Ha An is not number one in Hoi An!

A nice hotel and for the money you can't really fault it- huge bed and nice little balcony overlooking the garden. The bathroom was showing a couple of signs of wear and tear but still nice. The staff were very helpful and friendly and we loved making use of the complimentary bikes to cycle round town and get out into the countryside.

This hotel is in a great location within walking distance of the bustle. Grounds are beautiful. Staff are courteous, but don't bother you at all.

The rooms are quiet until cleaning in the mornings. We stayed in a twin room which was a little small but it had a walk in closet area that leaded into an outdoor sitting area. There was a cockroach there, which was a little off putting.

Had very nice finishing touches like fruit baskets, flowers and an abundance of towels. Free security box. Free bike hire. Breakfast was really good with great choice of everything included in the cost of our room.

When we left at 5am they left us with a snack box for a little bit of breakfast with the driver taking us to the airport.

The hotel staff told us to go to Bebe's for tailoring but Yaly's was the busiest and they did an excellent job.

We stayed for 2 nights at the end of February. We booked a Double Standard room, however, due over-booking we were upgraded to a Deluxe Garden room and still paid USD75 per night including breakfast. The room was beautifully presented with orchid flowers prettily arranged on our bed and in the en-suite bathroom when we entered. We had very hot running water all the time. The view from our room was of the main hotel courtyard where the main restaurant was located along with a free pool table, free hammocks and a communal sitting area. We had our own small private terrace too with a table and two chairs - perfect for morning coffee or an early evening drink. The room had a working safe and complimentary flip flops, robes and fruit (which seems to be very standard across Vietnam in 2 and 3 star hotels). Despite this hotel being a little on the pricey side, all in all we had an excellent stay. We did not check on Booking.Com (who we booked thru) whether the room we stayed in was exactly as per the photograph on their website as we were happy with the room we were allocated. The breakfast buffet was simply amazing. A morning feast of plenty. Expect a vast selection of European and Asian cuisines to sample along with various coffees, tea and sumptuous fresh juices. The Mango Juice was devine. We would highly recommend the breakfast here. The location of the hotel was a little outside of the old town - approx 10 min walk. For us this was perfect as noise levels were very low in the morning and evening. We still found all sights, restaurants and bars were within easy walking distance. Everything is within easy reach in terms of bars, restaurants and key sights. All key sights are within a 10/15 walking distance of the hotel - even less time if you use the free bicycles provided by the hotel. The hotel staff were very pleasant throughout our stay.

A couple of highlights from our trip in Hoi An:

1) Old Town, Japanese Covered Bridge, Tan Ky and Quan Thang Houses, Tran Family Chapel and the Fujian Chinese Congregation - we visited without a guide on foot given close proximity of all of these sights. We spent approx. 4 hours wandering around and we felt that was enough for us. Hoi An Old Town is very beautiful and most definitely worth visiting for the day/evening (even if it does feel a little touristy).

2) Cycling Tour - the hotel provided us with free bicycles. We followed 2 of the routes outlined in the Hoi An tourist leaflet - highly recommended. We cycled past rice paddies, local villages, local streets and An Bang beach where we stopped by a quick drink. This is an enjoyable experience and allows you to take in some of the beautiful landscape and scenery. No guide is needed to accompany you.

3) Massage - we booked a Swedish massage at Palmarosa. This is noted as a Top Choice in Lonely Planet. We agree. We both experienced fantastic treatments from highly professional therapists.

4) Restaurants & Bars:

a.) Morning Glory & Cargo Club - we ate fabulous Vietnamese food at both of these restaurants. Highly recommended. Price bracket - medium. Booking a must if you want to eat around 7pm and beyond.

b.) White Marble - an excellent intimate corner location for a glass of very good wine. An impressive wine list and a must for wine lovers. Service could be a little more friendly. Try a bottle of the De Bortoli Chardonnay for VND 585,000 - very good value for money.

Hoi An Pro's: Quoting Mark Wyndham 'resist the temptation to spend all your time shopping. The hinterland is beautiful; get out and explore.' Food & Waterfront Location. Old Town designated car and motorbike freezone - loved this.
Hue Con's: None per se. A little touristy for our liking. Two udays was perfect for us.
