“Best in Asia”
Reviewed 27 April 2010

Just stayed in Ha An for 2 nights and what can I say, amazing! I arrived from Danang where I picked up a stomach upset so didnt really feel like doing much. On arrival was taken into the restaurant and given welcome drink. Room was ready so could go straight in. Room itself was fantastic. Cosy without being too small with just me in there. Petals on the bed and in the bathroom, lovely and quiet, comfy bed with plenty of pillows. 32 inch LCD TV with DVD player and selection of DVD's for own use.

Hotel itself exudes charm, courtyard hotel with lovely green area at front with a couple of hammocks.

Breakfast was amazing buffet (although I had no appetite). Fellow guests were all nice. Service very good.

It is very close to centre without being right in the centre therefore quiet. Service was excellent from all the staff, always a friendly smile and hello

So in all, although I was ill, it was a great place to chill out, sleep.

Word of warning, I could only stay for 2 nights as was totally booked for 3rd night. I would strongly advise to book in advance to avoid disappointment and/or would not be suprised if prices go up. I paid 50USD a night and that is outstanding value for money!

Ha An does live up to the #1 rating. Great service, breakfast was the best we had in Vietnam and the location was excellent. Very quiet but easy walking to everything in the Old Town. Rooms were a bit small so if you are staying for several nights, you may wish a garden view room so you can sit outside in the evening.
One tip: avoid tailor across the street, Lua Viet Nam Vi Na Silk...very disappointed, had two very simple dresses made, copied from one I brought and I was still not happy. Quality of fabric was not great and fitting wasn't right. Had to go back a few times to make changes on a simple sundress and in the end, they still didn't make some changes. But I didn't pay alot so...buyer beware. Laundry across the street is excellent. Before and Now restaurant in town on LeLoi was amazing!! Eat upstairs!!! Good Morning Vietnam has excellent Italian food as well!!! Brothers Cafe down the street, lovely setting but very expensive for what you get.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a few days in April and loved every second of it.
We had the standard non-garden room but it came with it's own little private patio in the back! If we had the cheapest room at the place, I can't imagine what the other rooms were like. The service couldn't have been better. The free bicycles were a plus. And the food at the restaurant was seriously the best food we had in Hoi An. We had friends eat with us one night and they loved it so much, they came back the next night for dinner even though we were gone and they weren't even staying there. It was a perfect location in town. We took our laundry across the street to Dung Laundry because it was cheaper, but they did a great job.

This was the best hotel we stayed at in Vietnam, the beds are comfy, the air-con is cold, the shower is hot and strong, the breakfast is unbelievable and the setting is georgous. We had the standard room on the ground floor at the back of the building, the room was cosy but we had our own small enclosed courtyard that felt like an extra room to sit and read or hang out.

This hotel is magnificent in every way. The accomodation is superb. Spacious, luxurious rooms. The grounds are beautiful. The staff are very friendly and go out of there way to help you and the restaurant produces spectacular food (the breakfasts were the best that we had in Vietnam). The Hoi An is situated in an ideal location, on the same road as the markets and within walking distance to all of Hoi An's attractions.

Wow. Wow. Wow. This was maybe my best hotel experience ever, anywhere. Not the most expensive, not the most luxurious, but the best overall experience.

We arrived not expecting a lot, although the reviews we'd read here on TripAdvisor and other sites highly recommended this place. On arrival we were meet by a cheerful bellboy who steered us into the restaurant where a couple of fresh-squeezed chilled papaya juices were produced for us while our bags were taken up to our room. The check-in paperwork was brought to our table very casually. When we walked into the room we found it absolutely beautifully furnished, flowers arranged casually in just the right places, and a great view out over the courtyard. I should emphasize that the room was SMALL even though it was one of the Superior rooms with a garden view, and there was barely enough room to put a suitcase on the floor without tripping over it, but that a stubbed toe was a small price to pay for the overall experience.

The staff could not have been any nicer, the breakfast was so amazingly amazing that I am still having trouble finding words to describe the breathtaking variety of Asian and Western foods on offer, all beautifully presented and of the absolute highest quality with an emphasis on presentation. Some plates of delicacies were almost too beautiful to touch. Around the corner in the computer lounge the decor was some of the most exquisite Chinoiserie I have ever seen. Reds and blacks and golds arranged by someone with a superior sense of design. I live in New York City and am not unfamiliar with world-class interior design, and what I found in just the restaurant and computer lounge at the Ha An would put many "Asian" themed locations in NYC to shame.

The location is excellent - just a few minutes' walk to the old Market and the main "tourist streets", though we did find that the absolute best and most interesting restaurants were at the other end of town, near the Japanese bridge. They have a large fleet of bicycles for guests, which you should ABSOLUTELY take advantage of, if you want to head out to the beach (20 minutes of easy pedaling).

Someone at the Ha An clearly spends a LOT of time working on making this hotel a destination in its own right. When we had to check out I was genuinely sad to leave. I should emphasize that we had a room on the upper level looking out over the courtyard, which appeared to be the best kind they had available. Having seen the other rooms, I'd recommend paying whatever the extra is, for the view. Yes the rooms are small but exquisitely furnished, the staff could not have been any kinder, and the whole experience was something I will not soon forget. You would be CRAZY to stay anywhere else in Hoi An. Whoever runs this place totally GETS IT.
