“Great 3 star in Hoi An”
Reviewed 28 August 2014

We stayed in the Van Loi for two nights as part of our Intrepid Tour and it was a great place to base yourself for some excisions in an around Hoi An.

It has a swimming pool, friendly staff and is just far enough out of town to be away from the main hustle and bustle but close enough jot be convenient.

Hoi An itself is - in my view - one of the nicest places in Vietnam (and there are plenty too chose from).

We did cycle trips, cooking classes and had lots of clothes made. It was very enjoyable.

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of an Intrepid Tour. Room was on the 3rd floor, clean with all the standard amenities and a balcony which was a bonus.

The main centre of Hoi An is a 15 minute walk. There are no supermarkets or mini-marts that we could find but all over local residents have mini-shops in their homes selling drinks and essentials. We tried our best to help out the locals by buying our water from a different person each day rather than just the one closest to the Hotel and seeing their smiles was worth the extra effort.

Only problem we had from our room was noise from the pool in the morning. And I think that was a one off due to an inconsiderate family who decided to go for their swim at 6:30 am every day and made a lot of noise in the process.

Breakfast was fine but we had better during our tour. All in all though a very nice stay in lovely Hoi An.

Van Loi was is a great location - so central but away from all the hustle and bustle that Vietnam has to offer.
From the outside it doesn't look like a hotel, more like a home but that doesn't mean they are of any less a high hotel standard!
Rooms were neat and tidy and the pool was a lovely place to reside after a hard day of shopping.
Breakfast was good - loved all the fresh fruit available. Has a great view as well.
Staff were amazing and always willing to help.

The Van Loi hotel acted as a great base for our stay in Hoi An. The rooms were tidy, and the air con good.

The pool was a lovely place to swim in the heat of the day, with parts of it in the sanctuary of shade from mid morning onwards.

The lobby staff were both friendly and helpful, lending me a phone charger when mine broke, recommending places to visit and organising onward travel.

The breakfast isn't much to write home about, but the views from the restaurant where it is served are fantastic.

The bar at the pool seemed to be shut a lot of the time, and the serving staff here were slow and sometimes completely disappeared, but a quick word with the lobby staff got them back to take orders for food and drink. The banana milkshake was very refreshing!

The laundry is also quick and efficient.

A great place to stay, particularly given the fact that most tours are half day, and having a nice hotel with pool is a good way to spend the warmest hours.

I spent a few days here on my way up the coast from Saigon to Hanoi, and I have to say my time here was most enjoyable. I intend to return to Vietnam, to HoiAn, and definitiely to the VanLoi. After more than a month on the road traveling throughout Asia, as I keyed the door to my room, I was offering up a silent prayer to the God's that my room would at least be clean and somewhat and somewhat comfy. My prayers were answered. The room was large enough for three people, and spotless. The bathroom, bedding and floor were all in near-pristine condition. The air-con worked just fine, the Internet was fast, and there were even English channels on the TV,although I did not have plans to be in my room much.
While the accomodation itself was great, the best thing about the Van Loi is undoubtedly the service provided by the folks at the front desk. The staff were exceedingly attentive and helped me with booking an internal flight, getting taxis, advice about tailors, restaurants, etc. While this might seem like standard service a hotel would provide, I can assure you that after years of traveling around the world, I can say with all honesty that I have seldom encountered staff who seem to take such great pleasure in helping their guests. I always had their impression that they were truly concerned about my well-being and not that they were merely 'doing their jobs.' I cannot speak highly enough about the Van Loi, and I recommend it without reservation.

Recently stayed here for two nights with my wife and twelve year old son, on part of a tour of Vietnam. From the moment we stepped into the ornate hotel lobby we were greeted by the super cheerful Tram, where we were given drinks and a seat to recover from our transfer. The check in process was seamless and Tram even arranged our bike tour that we had been planning to do with "Heaven and Earth Bike Tours" for the next day, ringing them and booking it at a discounted price. She then went on to orientate us to the area, showing us were we were on a map compared to the old town and recommending numerous sights and shops for us to visit. Our room was pleasant enough and spacious, everything you'd expect, tea/coffee making facilities, air conditioning and tv. The bathroom was a bit shabby but functional. We had arrived at the hotel quite late so chose to eat in the bar, where we felt our meal of beef noodles and deep fried spring rolls was quite pricey for what it was and below par compared to meals we'd had elsewhere on our trip. Breakfast is served on the top floor of the hotel with glorious views of the river and surrounding countryside. It consists of the usual combination of eastern/westernmost/continental breakfasts with many choices including rice, cereal, bacon, sausage, pastries, donuts, cakes, fruit and an egg station. All tastes seem to be catered for. To sum up this is a fantastic hotel, with friendly staff who bend over backwards to help you in anyway they can and for the price you can't go wrong. Definitely our favourite hotel of the holiday, my only regret is that we didn't have longer here.
