“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 January 2012

We stayed here for 10 days over Christmas and New Year and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay at Vinh Hung resort. Our room was huge and spotless, with excellent daily cleaning service, the food was great and the staff couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome and at home. We were sad to leave! I would wholeheartedly recommend the resort.

there was 9 people in total which included 2 seven year boys..to start with the rooms were very good the staff were very nice and well trained in their jobs-the food at breakfast i would only rate as 6 to 7 out of ten..the location of the resort is perfect..amenaties very good..New years eve party was free for the guests that is food and entertainment..you paid for your own drinks at a reasonable price..there is a free boat shutle to the old town markets although the distance is very short to the old town.

Room Tip: ask for a room with a view of the river

The hotel is quite nice, there is a big pool and a nice bar in the pool and a second one near the river. Setting up the reservations was easy however the driver that came to collect the 5 of us had a car that fit 4 at the most and certainly did not have room for all of our luggage. So with some trepidation I took two of the children and my partner stayed at the airport waiting for the next driver. Needless to say we were quite anxious about the situation. It turned out to be nothing sinister but it really wasn't how we wanted to introduce the children to Vietnam. We also didn't get too much of a sorry from the front desk but I am not sure they understood what had just happened. Putting that aside, the place was great. The rooms were somewhat basic but large and well appointed. I really liked the large balcony. Breakfast was a buffet and it had a little of everything. Stick with the pho, that is the best. We at dinner and lunch in the city.

The absolutely wonderful staff cannot make up for the fact that the hotel is a faded rose. The pool was filthy and the bathrooms in a poor state of repair. We almost needed a torch in our room as the lighting was so poor.

The riverside location was a delight but the boats wake you up at 6 am as they work the dock next door.

Breakfast was large and plentiful but looked better than it tasted. The owners need to take a long hard look at what they provide their staff to work with. Look at newer hotels and realise it is time to spend big on this hotel.

Sorry if this does not please management; but sometimes the ‘truth hurts’….

We stayed in the Riverside resort for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. We had a bit of a rocky start when we were shown to our "garden view room" which was on the 3rd floor of the furthest away bock from the garden/pool. The distance wasn't the issue though. The garden view was outside the door of the room and it was not glass door/patio doors. While other rooms had private seating areas outside there room, which I would have accepted constituted a garden view, our room did not and was the access route for another room. When we questioned the room description we were told that what we had constituted a garden view in the hotels opinion. We agreed to disagree on the basis that we would be moved in the morning (as it was 9pm). In fairness we were moved to a room which did have the view we expected and although it was a twin room we had the added advantage of two large single beds pushed together. The breakfast was nice, I recommend the banana pancakes, although some options were slow to be replenished. The bar staff were friendly and the location was ideal. We were no more than a 5 minute walk from the town and we never felt unsafe walking there and back. The town was hit by a bad flood last year so some tidy up work was still ongoing but these were merely improvements more than essential work (so don't let that put you off). We enjoyed sitting in the porch area watching the boats going by and the sun setting in the evening. If you are expecting a 5 star resort you will be a little disappointed but if you are looking for a high standard 4 star resort then this is the place for you. Overall it was a very pleasant stay.

We stayed in a riverside room for 4 nights just after new year. The room was huge, the space is wasted really I think but it would be good if you had to add some rolloways for kids or family. The bathroom was quite tired and needs an update. It was clean but just old and a little gloomy. The on wall hairdryer didn't work but we had our own and the in room safe was a little erratic in opening so you had to be patient. I think the recent wet season floods had battered the resort's grounds a bit and they were in the process of getting back to normal with new plantings of the gardens etc. so we may not have seen it at its best. On the plus side the staff were all very pleasant so no complaints there. There was new patio furniture/day bed and If you are a light sleeper the riverside rooms may be an issue for you as boat traffic starts early on the river and can be noisy. The food expo daily is good as is the included buffet breakfast and nice clean pools (2) and a pleasant cocktail bar. We just gave this resort four stars as we could see they are trying to improve and renovate. I think it would be good for families as there is room to spread out in the grounds a little and around the pool.

Room Tip: If you choose a riverside room ask for a newly renovated one as I think they have commenced renovati...

Stayed in this hotel for a bit of R&R during a busy holiday, and it did the trick.
The rooms are a great size, and the beds are huge and the comfiest we found in Vietnam! The bathrooms are quite dated and could do with a bit of TLC, but this was all I would fault. The pool areas were both lovely and clean, and were just what you need after a hot day in town.
The hotel is located about a 5 min walk from the town through some quite streets and a wonderful market that comes alive at night selling lanterns and souvenirs etc.
The local food that is cooked daily was all wonderful and a great little bonus of being able to try different foods to see if you like before ordering at a restaurant!
The breakfasts were great, loads of choice – fruit, cakes, hot food, omelettes etc. We ate in the restaurant for lunch and the food was reasonably priced (granted more than in town but it is a resort hotel) and it was good quality.
It’s a lovely hotel to relax in, after having dinner in town and wandering back it was lovely to be able to sit by the river in the peace and quiet. One night there was a lady out on a boat lighting hundreds of multi-coloured candles which was beautiful!
