“Excellent service, friendly staff”
Reviewed 5 December 2013

Clean, very large room. We stayed in a family room (2double beds) which were decorated with flower petals and towel sculptures when we arrived. We stayed 2 nights and paid $58US a night. Staff were very friendly and helpful (sometimes almost overbearingly so) and were excellent with our children, making a big fuss of our daughter. The pool was basic and cold, but the kids enjoyed cooling off there. Breakfast was a reasonable buffet with lots of fruit and European and Asian hot options.

Stay just 1 day before have to go to Hue. But the impression is above surprising.

We booked 2 rooms through tripadvisor in a hurry, then travelled off-the-plan and reach them at 08:00am. They give us one room immediately with no charge at all!

The MOST impressive event is that .. I forget some of my professional camera gears at the lobby. The reception is able to find whose it is and bring it to me before I know what I have forgotten.

Some people may not like hotel's entrance because you have to pass through their resturant. But how many times you have to walk in and out of hotel? Some may say it's far away from Hoi An center. But for people who love travelling in daytime and VERY quiet night forbsound sleep, this place is a must. Five minutes walking time to see the sunrise above the river is not that "very-far".

Breakfast may not plentifull or 5-stars delicious. However, $32 for good bed, sound sleep, stomach-full breakfast for TWO people, how could anyone ask more? If some want full international food, plus, plus, plus .. I suggest Anatara. Be warned! don't faint when hear the price tag.

Room Tip: First floor rooms. There's no lift. First floor also closes to swimming pool.

After a five night stay in late November, I can recommend this hotel very highly. Indeed, it is a remarkable place. The rooms are large and well kept. Everything is clean and orderly. Bathrooms very nice with lots of hot water. A large buffet breakfast with great variety is quite tasty. The location is excellent, about a five minute walk from the old town but somewhat less crowded. But what makes the hotel remarkable is the amazingly level of service. The staff, without exception, is caring and helpful, much more so than at any other hotel that I have stayed at, including s number of five star hotels.

My 18 year old daughter and I booked 3 star hotels right across Vietnam and based on tripadvisor reviews decided on the Hai Au hotel in Hoi An which I believe is only 2 star. We were so pleasantly surprised! This hotel is just amazing value for money. We had a car pick us up from the airport which we arranged through the hotel. Staff greeted us getting out of the car and organised our luggage. The staff quickly get to know your names and greet you warmly every day. They have an excellent alfresco area out the front allowing you to enjoy breakfast, dinner or happy hour while watching the activity going by. We hired bicycles for $1 and cycled to the town and the beach. Really well located for visiting both the beach and the old quarter. Rooms are very spacious and have everything you need, very comfortable and a balcony! Highly recommend!

Room Tip: Hotel has a pool! There are some rooms outside the pool area which might get some noise. We were on...

I was quite disappointed with this hotel, that I do not recommend. For 35 us you aspect much more then this. Due to some misunderstanding they missed to pick me up at the bus station but when I arrived they paid my taxi. The entrance is through a kind of restaurant and through the kitchen. The lobby is not attractive and furnished with bad taste. The lady at the reception was kind and helpful but for the rest of the staff I can’t say they were “professional”, especially at the restaurant, which looks like a corridor and where the food is just decent and the service pretty bad. The breakfast is sad and poor with pancakes and French fries served cold, plates in plastic. While I got up to fetch something from the “buffet”, the girl took all my unfinished breakfast away. The room was clean but old, and the old tv-set and the very very slow laptop don’t justify the rate. The main light in the room is a horrible white neon, and all the furnishing seem put together without any good taste. The pillows are uncomfortable and small, dirty telephone. Safe and refrigerator were available in the room.
At the Restaurant's door hangs a Tripadvisor's Certificate of Exellence, which at closer inspection, is not for the hotel but for Hai Au Xanh Clothes Shop.

This hotel is lovely, mostly because the staff are so friendly and welcoming that you immediately feel like part of the family. A few of them are hilariously funny too if you take the time to speak to them! We stayed in a well appointed double room facing the road but it was still quiet. Our bed was comfortable and the bathroom a good size. The food in the restaurant was also good. One particular bonus is that when Hoi An floods, the Hai Au hotel doesn't! As it rained the whole time we were in Hoi An we didn't use the pool, but it looked lovely! Since leaving we have recommended this hotel to everybody we met travelling through Vietnam. We would definitely stay here again.

Me and my friend spent two days in this hotel. It's a quiet and family friendly hotel. The rooms are clean and the breakfast buffet is highly recommended.

When we came we where unsure if the hotel was in our price range, and the let us keep our bags there while checking other options.

Don't come here if you're planning to go out in the evenings though. The reception closes at 22-23 and the staff goes to bed.
We felt like we're intruding when we came back one night at 23:30.

But part from that the staff is wonderful and the really want you yo feel at home. (Example; they make an effort to learn your name. Help you with directions ++)

We would stay here again.
