“Superb garden location delightful staff .”
Reviewed 7 May 2011

We stayed for 10 glorious days and were very sorry to leave, the staff were so gentle, kind, efficient and a joy to chat with. The family meals were a marvellous way to get everyone to have a fun evening. The staff seemed to enjoy the evening as much as the guests with lots of laughter. The garden location was perfect for al fresco dining.Everyday felt like a day in Paradise when you walked from your room into the garden to start your adventures for the day,of which there were many! The food was carefully prepared and fabulous we ate in the Homestay often.
The bicycles were well maintained and staff were always on hand to set them up properly, the computers were always available, and the jaccuzi pool was heaven after a hot humid day out and about.
Our room was large and bright with all amenities required the daily fruit was always a treat trying different fruits we dont normally have at home. The room was spotlessly clean as was the whole establishment with comfortable beds.We had a large shower and bath which was lovely. The outside seating areas were perfect for relaxing.
We will be back next year I hope and will look forward to seeing our new friends again.

We stayed in a bungalow which was spacious and lovely. The enclave has a tropical garden feel. The food was very good.

We used their bikes to go into Hoi An---they were in good shape, and the backstreets are a nice way to peddle the several miles into Hoi An. If you like bikes, definitely do this.

During our three night stay we also had one evening meal gratis with the owner, another family, and two staff members. The food was excellent and it was a delightful experience.

Room Tip: Use a car and driver to visit Hue for a day

what a wonderful place to stay - a small hotel with simple but comfortable rooms set in a shady garden with lovely plants and really obliging hosts - they cooked a dinner for all the guests and themselves one evening that was fantastic. The location is a short way outside Hoi Ann close to the road to the beach - they loan bicycles for free or it takes about 15 minutes to walk into the centre of town - which is peaceful and green. The rooms are quite large but simple. The food here is excellent - the owner's wife is clearly a good cook.

I loved staying here and the owners did everything they could to make our stay as pleasant as it was.

We stay in this hotel for 4 nights and our kids loved it. There are all kind of fruits trees in the garden and many kinds of birds. Even in high noon ( over 30 degree C) the garden is still feeling very cool due to lots of trees which give you shades and humidity.

Personels are very good ( MS Hien and Mr Dong) they try their best to give you the home feeling you need at a homestay hotel.

The old town is about 2 km is can be reached by FOC bycicles of the hotel.

The draw back:
- no internet in rooms ( good for relaxing)
- no pool yet ( will be finish this sommer)
- old TV

We went to this place based on previous reviews on trip advisor. Given that it was no. 2 on the list, we had relatively high expectations, but we left a bit disappointed after our experience. We had previously been staying in much cheaper accomodation, and therefore expected a step up, but definitely not worth this price. The staff were friendly enough, and the gesture of paying for our taxi to the guest house and the arrival drink was extremely nice on their part. They also did our laundry for us and provided free fruit each morning, which came in handy and was very much appreciated.

The gardens are pretty, but unfortunately the setting is not as good as it could be. It is a brisk 20 minute walk into town, which can be a bit of a pain, even if they do offer free bicycles on demand. The issues we had were mainly to do with noise. They are currently building a swimming pool next door, the neighbours are also doing construction work (including pneumatic drills at 7am) and the walls are rather thin, so any inconsiderate guests can be heard rather clearly from your room. Having said this, the hotel did offer us a room (after complaining) in a different part of the site that was slightly less noisy.

The staff were lovely in general - but we read previous reviews on Trip Advisor where people say something like: "they were so kind that they organised our onward tickets for us". Do not be fooled. They are making a massive profit on this. A train ticket from Da Nang to Hue costs VND54,000 (which is less than $3). They try to sell you the ticket for $8. Yes, very kind indeed. If you want to travel by train, it's best if you get a taxi to Da Nang and buy the ticket at the train station. Very simple, and very easy. There are usually numerous trains per day, so space is not an issue.

On a final note, cleanliness is somewhat questionable. Our first bathroom smelt of rotten eggs (presumably sulphur), and it wasn't as clean as we expected for the money. Hot water is also scarce and only lasts 1 shower.

Overall, it is a nice place to stay in, and once the noise issues are sorted out it will be even better.

Left Hue early as we really didn't like it so needed an emergency room for 1 night in Hoi An. Booked Betel Garden and were very pleasantly surprised. Large cottages in a garden with plenty of room, ours had a double and single bed, extremely helpful staff, great food and very cheap. Did some laundry within 4 hours and didn't charge. Old fashioned decor and faded bathrooms but very clean.

We stayed at Betel Gardens in January and loved it there. Even though it was raining some of the time, there is a large undercover area with beautiful gardens surrounding it. We went with 2 other couples so it was ideal as we there are only a few rooms which makes it quite personal. The food was lovely and one night we came back a bit hungry so they made us some delicious banana pancakes which we ate while chatting to one of the other guests. The free hosted dinner was delicious and a lovely idea. The staff were unfailingly helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the walk into town-only 20mins-and felt as though we experienced the real HoiAn (roosters and all). We'd definitely go there again
