China Beach of the Vietnam War fame is a long stretch of beach with different names as it progresses from Da Nang to Hoi An. The beach nearer Da Nang is a public beach and virtually a suburb of Da Nang. The locals use the beach and promenade for the morning exercises.
As the beach heads south, it becomes individual "private" beaches of the international hotel and resorts that line the coast road. The big names of 5 star resorts are all there, but there didn't appear to be many people using the beaches in front of them. Maybe April was the wrong time of the year (?) or the resort facilities take all the time of the rich and famous. However, there is no problem with walking along the beach and enjoying the peace without vendors harassing you.
