We stayed at Green Plaza twice, in last year and earlier this year. Very nice and clean room, good view to the river. The staff were friendly. Will be back.

We stays at Green Plaza hotel in July 2011. The rooms were nice a big, excellent views of Da Nang and the Han River. Everyting was within walking distance and the staff were really friendly. One of the staff arranged a private tour of Da Nang to Hoi An, stopping off at may places along the way. definitely will go back when I am next in Da Nang.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the river to the east.

This is ranked as a 4-star hotel but judging from my recent stay (March 2012), it should be downgraded to a 2.5-star rating. Pictures posted by the hotel (including the ones here) are deceiving and do not justify what I encountered on this trip.

To begin with, I made a booking online but when I arrived at the hotel with colleagues, I found out they were all given nicer rooms with much cheaper price. Front desk staff did not even bother to explain why. When I got to my room, I was more surprised about the condition - a somewhat run-down guest room with older furniture, dirty floor and torn wall paper (see pictures). The only thing that saved the grace is its bathroom, which is nice and clear compared to the room itself. Other than that, I simply couldn't comprehend why I was paying 20-25% more than my colleagues but receiving significantly less. Breakfast is included but the selection was mediocre. I also noticed the entire hotel was very empty and felt like nobody else was staying here except our group. Could this be the reason why the service is non-exisitent?

This is my 2nd stay at the hotel. I chose this property based on the great experience previously (I was put in a much nicer room) and hotel's great location. Sadly to say, I was quite disappointed this time and have concluded that Green Plaza is no longer the choice for future visit due to lack of consistency in quality service.

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floor seem to be nicer but it will be up to the mercy of front desk staff for ro...

We arrived for checkin at the hotel on my 39th birthday. Unbeknownst to me, my husband had called ahead and arranged for our room to be decorated with flowers on the bed and in the bathroom sink, with a cake. The staff upon checking in were very friendly and accommodating. The room itself was very nice. We had 2 single beds pushed together as a king. The biggest complaint we had was the shower stall leaked water due to poor sealant. We had to call several times to get it fixed. The morning breakfast buffet was very good with a variety of different cuisines for international travelers. The daily noodle option was delicious. Again, this was a good place to stay, certainly not 4 or 5 star rating.

I would not recommend this hotel. The room is unclean, staff is unhelpful, food was below average. They charge us around US $30 for broken "do not disturb" wood sign, Talk about rip off. when other hotels use the paper sign. You open the door and the sign drops so "Beware".

Although there are other new hotel popping up in the city. This hotel probably has the best view of the Han River. Try the bar on the 20th floor.

The rooms has a character. it's very woody and has a natural feeling. The TV is very small, but most of the facilities in the rooms are modern and the beds are comfortable. Public areas including the lobby, dining area and the conference rooms are also that of good standards.

Unfortunately, the service provided by the staffs here are very basic - as the case, there seems to be an unbalance with the good facilities. They will need to improve here to survive the competition coming.

Room Tip: Obviously, choose a river view room (probably more expensive).

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2011

My husband I have stayed at the Green Plaza twice within the last two years, most recently in November 2011. if you're most interested in staying in the city, rather than down by the beach, the location isn't bad.

When you first walk in the lobby, the hotel appears to be quite nice...large and grand looking. Checking in was quick and easy. No, the staff doesn't speak perfect English, and I wouldn't expect them to, but they are friendly and efficient. Once you step into the elevator, you may detect a slightly damp smell, and don't be surprised if you smell it a few other places. We arrived at the end of Da Nang's rainy season and it was clear something had been leaking, somewhere. Sometimes the lights are on in the hallways druring the day, and sometimes they're not. Not sure if this is an energy saving measure?

The rooms themselves are perfectly nice and clean.--wood floors throughout, including the bathroom, which are kept clean? Housekeeping staff is friendly and attentive. Laundry service
was excellent and done the same day. The only issue in the room was the shower. It came on full blast and the water couldn't drain out fast enough, so after a few minutes I was standing in a couple inches of water. I would try to cut my showers short so as to not flood the stall, but then we figured out the trick with the handle that reduced the water pressure. When we stayed two years ago, we had a tub, encased in a glass wall. The water would spray all over the edges and down onto the floor-- a total mess that we had to keep cleaning up. Don't know if they've fixed that problem. The beds are good-- very firm.

Breakfast is ok. The staff in the dining room are lovely and provided good service as far as bringing coffee and clearing dishes go. The buffet--while there is a ton of food-- could be improved. Many dishes are hot, served in chafing dishes, but there's nothing to keep the food hot, which is probably a bit of a health hazard. Breakfast began at 6 but I often didn't make it down till after 8. By that time, the food was lukewarm. The good news is, there was always toast! Someone was there making fresh omelets as well.

The pool area is not bad. On the 8th floor, it's a nice place to lie in a chair and read. The small gym is slightly depressing but it has a treadmill and a decent elliptical and some free weights.

Despite a few issues, I'd probably stay at the Green Plaza again if I were staying in the city, mostly because I don't know of anywhere better. The HAGL is likely a bit fancier, and from what people were saying about the Mercure, it sounds like a nice place worth checking out. If you decide to stay at the Green Plaza, be sure to check out the Bamboo2 bar justva few doors down the street, and also Highlands Coffee, a bit farther past Bamboo.
