Lovely little resort with all you need

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 16 Mar 2014
Very friendly and sincere owners, it was delight to book the room and all communication was straight forward and easy to understand. Yes yes their english is brilliant - makes many things easier.
The hotel is located near restaurants and shops, but away from all MAJOR action further up the road (of which some seemed bit over the top and cheesy compared to the size of this resort area - but each to their own).
Rooms are lovely and clean and all with large balconies, pool is nice and big enough to do laps in.
Its such a simple thing to do but it means alot to us guests when you come back into your room and you are welcomed with complimentary fresh fruit or served nice cool fresh juices/shakes while sunbathing.
Breakfast is just right in size and selection, I didnt try the Pho here but it looked yummy. And that brings us to the food, in Vietnam you can have amazing food all over - but the food we had at the hotel was really amazing, didnt seem like many others were having other food than breakfast while we were there. But do eat here. We only tried the Vietnamnese food though!
All in all I would come back here.

We booked this hotel about 3 weeks before we stayed and from beginning to end our experience was exceptional.
My husband has walking difficulties and so I thought that breakfast on the rooftop of the hotel would be an issue. It wasn’t! – An email to Van and we were promised a room on the ground floor and breakfast would be served at the bar every morning – this is exactly what we got and it was fantastic.

I had also asked if it was possible for me to hire a wheelchair for my husband & Van said he would look into this for me. I did not really expect this to be possible & had thought that we would have to arrange taxis everywhere. Imagine my surprise when we arrived & we found that Van had in fact purchased a wheelchair to enable my husband to get out and about. It was not easy and most of the time it was best to push the chair on the road – a bit risky but I could see the traffic coming & many people helped me if I needed.
Van advised that Mui, the gardener, had agreed to work a little later whilst we were guests to ensure that we got out ok for our evening meal & Mui was always there when I needed a hand getting the chair up the few steps to the room and pushing my husband up the slight hill to the side of reception.

Some people have said that it is not 5* and this is true but it depends what you want. We like small hotels with few people and this fits that bill perfectly – there are a small number of rooms, the service is personal and nothing is too much trouble for Van, Loan and their family. Equally, the hotel staff are kind, friendly and happy in their work. This, to me says that the Allen family are caring and flexible employers. Their commitment to ensure we had a great time was testament to that. We were invited to have lunch with all the hotel guests (lovely barbequed chicken) for a Tet celebration & we had dinner with Van & Loan & 3 other guests (see previous post by Kiwi Budah) – we had a great time that night too. Too much wine but a great night…

The rooms are spacious and there is plenty of room for all your clothes, lotions & potions. The swimming pool is small but perfectly adequate for cooling off and you could do many lengths if you wish. There are many sun beds but if you like the sun you may need to move around a bit because there is also much welcome shade from the palm trees. You choose what you want.
The hotel is well placed along the main road and there are many good places to eat within walking distance (the Bar, Pin, Sinbad and our favourite Olivers) A taxi ride away takes you to other restaurants, most mentioned on TA.

The sea comes right up to the hotel wall and so the beach is only visible early morning – but this is the best time for a walk & forage! There is a small area with sand facing out to sea by the bar and so you can sit in your sun bed looking out at the fishermen if you wish catching rays with the cooling breeze.
Daily free mid morning drink from the bar is welcome & the lunch menu, whilst not extensive is adequate & the food tasty – there are so many places to eat nearby this really is not a problem.
The mini bar is stocked every day & the cost does not break the bank - I found the whole holiday really affordable & probably the best value time we have had for a long time. There is no evening food served but with his usual, easygoing attitude and exceptional hospitality we saw Van arrange an evening meal for a weary traveller on one occasion. That is the level of service here.

You can expect a warm welcome, great hospitality & thus enjoy a relaxing & trouble free stay if you book here. We highly recommend.

Thanks Van, Loan family & staff,
Wendy & Ray

Room tip: The rooms on floors 1 & 2 will have great sea views. The rooms on the ground floor are fab if you want to avoid the stairs & have easy access to pool, bar and sea.

Stayed three nights at the Grace Boutique and we can't really fault them. Very friendly owners (you don't have to read the reviews to notice that they spent time in the US) and staff who are all helpful and accommodating. It's small, 15 rooms, which makes it ideal for relaxing and means you can get some extra attention should you need it. Rooms are clean and tidy and benefit from air co as well as a ceiling fan. The infinity pool is very nice as is the little private terrace on the seafront with the bar at arms length. The complimentary fruit drinks and a nice fresh coconut upon arrival we're very much appreciated. The menu is a bit minimalist, but it works and the portions are sufficient. In a small town (it's actually one long road) that is overrun by Russian tourists, this was definitely a quiet retreat. Highly recommended.

Met the owner, Van, who graduated from UMiami which is where our daughter attends school now. He and the staff are extremely friendly. Unlike other hotels they don't try to rip you off with the mini bar and other amenities. The amenities btw are top class. If you walk out your hotel room and walk about 30 paces East you're literally in the ocean. This was a completely relaxing experience after a frantic pace in Cambodia. I checked the other hotels out after walking along the beach and this looks like one of the better ones in the area definitely a must stay.

We stayed from the 14th of Feb for 5 nights after 2 and a half weeks travelling through Vietnam. This was the "chill out" part of our trip.

Our room was fantastic and our view was stunning. Location was great, with plenty of restaurants nearby. Anything further away is very cheap to get to by taxi or cheaper still by hiring a bicycle across the road. Daily fresh fruit in the rooms is a nice touch as was the free shakes poolside during the day!!
Our stay was very personable and we were lucky enough to get to share a meal with Van and Loan and 3 other hotel guests. The meal had been prepared by Loan herself and her food was amazing and the company was fantastic.
The perfect touch for us was when we were leaving for Saigon, Loan had prepared " travel treats" (well that's what my wife called them) for us to take on the bus trip. Now that's what I call service!!
To Van, Loan, your family and your team thank you for a very memorable stay and your amazing hospitality! We will be back...

Cheers again
Matt and Jodi

Stayed here 2 nights in February '14. Firstly I'll say that our experience was not as personable or homey as others have raved about. I'm not saying that as a negative... I'm just saying that after reading plenty of reviews before booking, we maybe expected something different.

We booked a main floor room (cheaper) and it looked like something out of the 80's. I don't like having to pay a premium for the same room on a higher floor. No problem though - again - just not as nice as we had read on here. The bathroom is large and good hot water which we appreciated. Our room did have a large cockroach in it, but that's no ones fault. The pool is EXCELLENT. The complimentary beverages are fantastic. We had issues communicating with the bar staff though as their English is not very good. Their pizza and bun thit noung are both delicious. We liked the gardener guy, and we rented his scooter for 400VND for the day. Excellent sunset view. The breakfast is okay - but don't order the pho - it's not good. They suggested a vietnamese restaurant for us to eat at one evening, which we did and were disappointed. If you stay here though, you MUST MUST MUST eat at Sindbad down the street. Unreal food. You can book a bus to Saigon right across the street from here (take a sitting bus, NOT a sleeping bus).

Overall, our stay here was just fine. Definitely not our "home" for 2 days though - just another hotel. We had just come from Mia Resort in Nha Trang though, so we had to do our best to critique it objectively and not compare.

Room tip: Pay the extra to get a 2nd or 3rd floor room. You will be disappointed if you don't.

Dear AlpinestaRR,

Thank you for your review. We appreciate your compliments regarding our pool and that you enjoyed your view of the sunset. I also want to assure you that without exceptions, Grace Boutique offers the same warm and friendly service to all its guests. That’s why our guests often used words such as ‘Charming, Perfect, Warm etc…’ to describe their experience at our resort.

We apologize that a cockroach entered your room. If you reference the abundant prior reviews for Grace Boutique, I am sure you would agree that this occurence is extremely rare. Our house keeping staff is extremely vigilant regarding room hygiene. We hope you understand that Vietnam is a tropical country, airborne insects represent a challenging problem that we are continually working very hard to control. As for your comment about the ground floor rooms, many guests actually prefer them because of their larger size, these rooms also offer a more direct access to the bar, beach, garden and the pool. I do understand that the room choice is a matter of personal preference. We always do our best to match a guest’s wish with what is available.

I would like to thank you again for your visit, and wish you the all the best in your travels.

Best regards,

Van, Loan and Staff
