Very beautiful place to visit in Phan Thiet, Buddha statue here is the biggest one in Asia. on the way to come here, many strange things symbol for Viet Nam's countryside: dragon trees, birds, monkeys, etc... Climbing up Takou Mountain, beside looking at the beauty of forests and bowing to Buddha, visitors can also contemplate the giant "Sakyamuni statue entering Nirvana" with the length of 49m and height of 6m which is set Vietnam record. About 50m from lying Buddha statue is the group of "Three Buddha Postures"; all of these 3 statues are about 7m high, with kind and tender eyesight, are looking down to the earth and opening arms to save people and earth.
I stayed in Dat Lanh Resort, about 20 km of mountain, the tour guide here is helpful, friendly and funny.

A quiet trip to break from the regular bustle - It is a nice drive through the countryside from Mui Ne to get there – The cable car may be a bit scary for those not comfortable with heights – I am usually not to bad but the swaying had me gripping onto my seat. Up the top it is very quiet with a stunning view – It was nice to get lost in the scenery.

Also they also have a few nice little Souvenir stores at the base of the mountain – we found them generally better quality with a range other than the same old stuff at other places.

P.S We did this in a day to the nearby(ish) hot springs unless you really wanted to go if I was to go again I would have skipped the springs.

Stunning Buddah resting in a tranquil location. With a stunning cable car trip thrown in for good measure.

Having travelled extensively in Asia I found the site a bit disappointing and requiring significant maintenance. I mean the pagoda has been replaced by corrugated iron boards ! hopefully temporarily. The ride from the phan thiet hotels is a pleasant 45 minutes through the countryside and dragon fruit plantations. The site is well organized and the entry ticket buys you a ride to the cable car station and the cable car ride. There is not a single sign in English nor does anyone speak English but the place is so small and straightforward that it can easily be navigated.

A cable car takes you up the mountain and you still have a few hundred steps to walk. So you need a reasonable fitness level or just rest when you are tired.
But it is so worth the climb when you get to the top. The reclining Buddha is a sight to behold. I can't imagine the effort that went into the construction of this huge statue.
This is a holy site and must be visited by thousands of people. Very impressive.
