The David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa

Lovely lodge set on the banks of the Zambezi. What I really like about the Lodge is the fact that it maintains some of the tranquillity and atmosphere of the bush and river, its not a loud and proud establishment as some of the other venues are. Food, service and rooms were great. The Lady Livingstone one of the best Sun Set Cruise launches I have been on.

Room Tip: There is a resident croc on the one side of the hotel, near the bar area, so if you want to sit on y...

The David Livingstone Safari Lodge has first-class rooms. On the positive side, most of the rooms offer views of the river, they have air conditioning and nicely outfitted bathrooms. The restaurant also offers wonderful views of the river. On the negative side (perhaps), the rooms do not have screens and do not have cross ventilation, so you need to use the air conditioning. Also, the rooms have televisions (which means that they feel a bit more like a standard luxury hotel one might find anywhere). But it still seems one of the best options for lodging near Victoria Falls.

We used this as our base for Victoria Falls for a couple of days and found it to be a nice property. The property itself is beautiful - lovely grounds and a big expansive pool/deck/lawn area at the back right on the Zambezi River.

The staff was all very friendly and helpful, especially Jennipher in the Activities Center. Our room was big, with a balcony and nice bathroom, and an AC unit that blasted chilly air into the room.

The food in the restaurant was only fair for the price, and there's not really other options without taking a taxi somewhere. The activities purchased through the hotel are quite expensive - with a discount, the Lady Livingstone cruise was $136 for two people, Lion Encounter was over $200 and the Livingstone Island trip was just under $200 as well. They were all great activities (DEFINITELY recommend the Livingstone Island trip!) but super pricey.

I do think it's a nice property and would recommend it to someone looking for nice lodging outside of Livingstone.

This hotel provides a good base for wonderful Zambezi activities- which is the entire point of being here. The conference facilities are sufficient for a small group. The staff called TRAINEE were helpful, yet sans any relevant skill, whilst the others were uninterested, albeit knowledgable. The chef seemed stricken- not being able to produce a cheese sandwich over lunch with a trickle of guests being present. On the sunny side, the manager does appear committed to raising service levels and providing an awesome experience to guests.
The bathrooms are compact, yet pleasingly modern.

Room Tip: Check to get a room, which is not located beneath another with a running jacuzzi- this will affect y...

This was the highlight of our 3 weeks in Africa. Our room was spacious and our balcony overlooked the Zambezi River. The food was wonderful and the staff couldn't have been nicer. The evening ride on Lady Livingstone was superb in that we saw hippos, elephants, monkeys all while cruising at a slow pace along the Zambezi. It is a short ride to Victoria Falls and also into town. No need to check out other places to eat because our food and service was the best. Stayed one afternoon reading at the negative edge pool which overlooks the river - while my husband went up on a helicopter to take pictures. Would love to come back again and stay here.

This hotel exceeded all my expectations. Luxurious rooms with a beautiful balconies overlooking Zambezi river, delicious food, very pleasant and helpful staff, nice SPA, AND very reasonably priced. They offer different activities during your stay, we went on a sunset cruise which I really enjoyed. Very nice experience from the beginning of our stay to the end. I will 100% stay here again!

This hotel is a truly remarkable place located on the Zambezi River above Victoria Falls in Livingstone, Zambia. Everything was simply beautiful -- the rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated, with great bathrooms and individual balconies looking out on the grounds and the Zambezi River. We stayed there 4 nights and found it difficult to leave as it was so relaxing. Sitting out on the terrace at sunset, overlooking the river, was very special. Drinks and meals could be served on the terrace, at the bar, or in the main dining area. Our favorite spot was the terrace as the view was stunning. There was an infinity pool right along the river which was a favorite way to relax after a day's adventure. Breakfasts which were included were excellent with a lot of variety. Our only complaint was with our dinner meals which were pricy -- the beef entrees were very tough and the overall quality was just average. But, the service was excellent and the atmosphere lovely. I especially want to note the travel office located within the hotel for booking local tours and adventures. We booked several tours and Charity, who did all our bookings, was amazing. We did a Lion Encounter, a Cheetah Encounter, a day trip to Chobe National Park in Botswana, a sunset cruise on the Zambezi, and a private birding/rhino safari with Southern Savannah Safaris. Everything went off without a hitch and Charity welcomed our feedback on all that we did. The sunset cruise, which was included in our package, is not to be missed -- a lazy evening ride up the Zambezi River to watch the sunset and then back to the hotel. The hotel also will provide transportation to/from Victoria Falls (which we took advantage of) and to other sites in town such as the David Livingstone hotel. All in all, this was a great place to stay and one I will always remember.
