This is a good 3* hotel certainly not 4*, its location 5 minutes walk to the Victoria Falls is its best asset. The African themed rooms need updating and it is poor not to supply bottled water in the room. You get very wet when visiting the falls in March but when we returned to our ground floor room there was absolutely nowhere to dry our clothes we ended up laying them out on the grass to dry!

A good choice at breakfast but service although friendly was slow. We had lunch in the poolside grill but there was little choice if you did not want chips. We ate in Squires Restaurant on 2 nights the food was okay but service was much more efficient mainly due to the lady who took our order.

Of course the great bonus of this hotel is its close proximity to the Victoria Falls (entrance free to guests) and it was also wonderful to see Zebra’s roaming round the grounds. We did walk across the bridge crossing the gorge, watched the bungee jumpers and then walked to the border of Zimbabwe without too much hassle from the local vendors.

We also visited the sister hotel The Royal Livingstone for cocktails via a courtesy bus which is a luxurious, colonial style hotel in beautiful grounds.

Spent 3 nights with the family. Loved the falls (esp the proximity - special). Enjoyed the sundowners and chilling at the pool. Great friendly service and meals. Rooms may be getting tired but were comfortable.

Nice, atmospheric expansive hotel ideally situated within walking distance (5 mins) from Victoria Falls. Rooms not over large but clean and comfortable with views over grassed/tree lined area towards the pool. Zebra and the odd monitor lizard roaming at will!!
Pleasant and helpful staff always willing to please.
Buffet style dinner while expansive lacked variety. Choice of four similar casserole dishes and a chinese stir-fry on successive nights lacked imagination.
Breakfast good.

Room Tip: I wouldn't be tempted by a room on 'the Falls side' as I suspect you might not see too much through the trees apart from some spray! Just walk to the Falls in a few minutes - stunning!

We loved the location we hiked Victory Falls everyday. We also enjoyed all the animals around the hotel. I kept thinking of how much my 3 year old grandson would love this hotel with all the animals walking around the hotel like the zebras and monkeys. We did a lion walk that was incredible . The hotel also set up a sunset river safari that was amazing.

Out travel agent booked us into the Zambezi Sun and let us know that it wasn't luxury accomodations but offered a comfortable stay and a five-star location. She was right on target. The path to the falls (a five minute walk) was right outside our room. Shuttle pickup for most of the major activities and attractions is at the front desk. Food and drink was decent, but a bit pricey compared to any of the other stops on our vacation. Service was very good with the exception of one slightly surly, totally disinterested waitress who seemed to be on duty 24/7. On the final night of our stay, we made dinner reservations at Royal Livingstone next door and very much enjoyed a more upscale meal a quick shuttle ride away. Although it really doesn't compare to a safari experience, the zebra, impala, baboons and giraffe living on the grounds were fun - especially watching childrens' reaction to them.
Our room was clean, comfortable, fairly modern and recently painted, but honestly could use a more thorough facelift. All things considered, Zambezi Sun was a pleasant experience for us and we'd recommend it if you don't mind paying a premium for convenient location.
