Boyu island is 1 hr from Zambia international airport. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights. This a great place to unwind. We did trips from here to Vic falls as well as Chobe(day trip), which while Brett organised everything for us without even a complaint, is probably too much hassle and activity for the average traveler. You should see Vic falls first over 1-2 days...then I would come to Jungle Junction for 3-4 days... just relax and chill out!
There are sunset cruises (on the traditional wooden canoes), village tours (must-see!!), fishing and walks around the island which you can do which you are here. The meals made by Mama Alice are nice... shout out to Mama Alice, who is a real gem :)
Brett is a great guy who shares about his life with you... He has a ton of energy and knowledge of the local area. Evelyn lives on the Island, and she is lovely.
While you are sleeping, you can hear hippos threshing about outside, as well as elephants from across the river! If you want a survivor experience, make your way here! I also imagine that kids will like it if you are a family. This sort of establishment may not exist in the future....come and stay before it is too late before Zambia becomes commercialised!
