“Stunning Peace and Quiet near the Mosi”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

Unfortunately we only stayed 2 nights at the Stanley. It is a little bit out of Livingstone but there in lies the peace and quiet. The staff are fantastic being efficient and always with a big Zambian smile. All the additional arrangements - sunset cruise/helicopter flight/ falls tour were arranged perfectly. The open air Chalets were great especially during the cooler May time. We woke to lion roars very morning and could see the smoke from the falls while sitting in the tropical garden or at the pool. Definitely give it a try if you are looking for a more relaxing stay at the falls.

Room Tip: We stayed in an open chalet. It was lovely and spacious with enough privacy and great views.

We spent the last 2 nights of our africa trip last week at the Stanley Safari Lodge. It was a wonderful way to end our trip, very relaxing - a great way to wind down. We woke up to a beautiful view from our open air cabin each morning where we could see the mist from Victoria Falls. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Peter was our personal host and I can't say enough positive things about him. He was always available to help us and was exceptionally pleasant and friendly.

Stayed at the Lodge in May 2014. The service was wonderful. I can't say enough about all of the staff. The food was some of the best we had in Africa. It was wonderful dining in the open lodge or in the garden by candle light. The main lodge area was comfortable and we spent many hours lounging, gazing at the spray from the falls, having tea, or gin and tonics. The staff booked all our excursions and were very accommodating. Our room was very nice with a comfy bed and big bathroom. On our last night we met another family for drinks in the main lodge. Without asking the staff brought us appetizers to share with our drinks. We could not have asked for a better place to stay for the last part of our trip.

Long overdue review (visited April 2012). Service was amazing! We stayed in an open room, which is an experience in itself. Safe, gorgeous, great location, great staff. They made our visit extra special! They provided us with great information on the area and activities. They helped coordinate everything we participated in seamlessly. They provided excellent service on premise, as well- food (taste, quality, presentation), extra touches and celebration.

The Stanley Safari Lodge is close enough to Livingstone and to the Victoria falls to be convenient, but is still secluded enough and is away from all the activities right near town and near the falls. We were treated to exceptional service and had one host that looked after us for our entire stay. There were a number of day trips and activities that were organized by the lodge, so there was really nothing to worry about. It was a good time of year to visit the Victoria Falls, as the water was very high. This was our first experience with a totally open room, which was very nice, but of course we required mosquito nets around our bed and mosquito coils burning at night

Stayed at the Stanley Safari Lodge Feb 4th-6th, 2014 in the Victoria hut. On arrival we were met by Christopher and Regina who provided cool wet hand towels to refresh us after our short journey from Livingstone airport. We were directed to the main lodge where fresh lemonaid was also provided. The view overlooking the infinity pool and the valley below was incredible and gave an instant sense of serenity and calm.

The Victoria hut is large and open facing the valley and Victoria falls. The beds can be twin or pushed together to make a king. In the evening staff would bring down the mosquito netting and light coils to keep the bugs away. We did have the occasional insect on the net but it was nothing too major. There is a beautiful deck outside to sit and admire the scenery or you can have a bath in the large tub and look out on the valley as well. In the morning as the sun rises you can hear the lions roaring and a symphony of different birds.

Dining was always a pleasure at SSL. Our server Christopher was the most pleasant and kind man. He was always around if we needed anything and made us feel so welcome. The food was delicious and often served with fresh made bread or buns.

Arrangements were made through the lodge to have a tour of Victoria falls, a sunset cruise on the Zambezi river and a visit to the nearby Mukuni Big 5 to walk with cheetahs, lions and have an elephant ride. All the activities were well planned and very enjoyable.

We felt almost like royalty as there were no other guests at the lodge during our stay. I suspect even at full capacity it wouldn't feel crowded at all. There is so much space and attention to detail at this lodge. You can't help but to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of Africa. It was very hard to leave and all the other properties we stayed at after Stanley sure had some massive shoes to fill. I hope to make it back there again one day.

We booked this as a small part of our honeymoon because I wanted to see Victory Falls. The agent recommended Stanley and it was incredible. The room took our breath away. The service and smiles from the staff were completely unexpected and really brightened every day we spent there. The food was incredible. Waking up to the roar of the lions at the nearby conservation park and the mist rising from the falls is a memory that will last a lifetime. Visiting the nearby village and seeing a snapshot of local life was really eye opening.

If you are planning a visit, please check out pack for a purpose and see what they need. You know you are saving room for souvenirs from your trip so pack some stuff up to help the people you are visiting.
