“Good for a swimming holiday.....”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2010

For some reason , checking in seems to be a very slow process, we got our second room at 8 pm instead of 3 pm , secondly , its too far away from Aqaba city center and an expensive 20 minute 10JD ride in and back. Even though we were warned about the taxi ride price difference, we still could not find any taxi driver to take us for less than 7 JD . On ten plus side the rooms are fresh and linen clean , as you would expect from the kind of money you are paying . Breakfast is good but for some reason getting a knife and fork is not easy. Another plus are the excellent swimming pools which are well kept , but the policy of opening until 7pm , and 10 pm on the main pool is a bit ridiculous for a city climate where the temperature is only bearable at midnight , in the summer. In conclusion I would not recommend staying at any hotel so far out as Tala Bay , unless you intend to remain in the pool .

Outstanding hotel. Service was great, the room very comfortable and the resort itself faultless.

Sitting at the sunset bar watching the sun go down was a wonderful moment....

My wife and I just got back from a week at the Radisson Blu in Tala Bay. I don't think we've ever received better service in a hotel. The staff was consistently attentive without being intrusive. We encountered lots of smiles and cheery greetings everywhere we went on the huge and beautiful property. They really took care of us, and we would go back there again in a heartbeat.

The breakfast and dinner buffets were very well-stocked with a wide variety of excellent food. There are five swimming pools, including one (the infinity pool) for adults only -- very handy when hundreds of kids descend on the weekend! The beach is rocky -- like everywhere else in Aqaba -- but the water is crystal clear and warm. The massage service is currently unavailable, but they made arrangements for us at the resort next door, and even drove us there and back from our appointment -- excellent customer service!

The room was clean, cool and comfortable. We had a minor issue with the AC one night after midnight (it was not cooling due to a faulty sensor) but the staff came out and fixed it within 10 minutes. The only negative comment I have is about the quality of the snorkeling equipment available for rent -- it's poor. However, go to the public beach next door (10-minute walk) and rent some good equipment and step straight into the water to experience some of the finest coral reefs anywhere.

The hotel is well outside the city of Aqaba, and Tala Bay is only now beginning to fill out as a development. So it is quiet. There are not a huge number of dining or entertainment options yet, but there will be more in the coming years -- construction is ongoing. If you like the hustle and bustle of the city, this hotel is not for you. If you like calm and quiet, grab a sisha and your cold beverage of choice on the Sunset Deck and listen to the live oud music as you watch the sun sink behind the mountains across the sea...magic!

This is a truly stunning hotel with very designer-led touches such as the Middle Eastern terraces and the incredible infinity pool. The sea view room we stayed had the best location and views of any hotel room I'd stayed in anywhere!

The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and all spoke excellent English. The food, as always with Radisson hotels, is just a touch more superior than the hotels next door with very large potion sizes! The dining is really very good value for money considering how delicious it all is.

Having stayed at several 5 star hotels in Aqaba, Sharm el Sheikh and Taba I can honestly say that this one was one of the most beautiful.

However, the hotel is relatively new and what let it down was things like housekeeping and room service not responding quickly enough and getting room numbers mixed up. Also, the extractor fan in the ensuite bathroom was not working and there was no window in the bathroom - at a five star hotel you don't expect to have to complain about these things and have them fixed, you simply expect them to check everything regularly and make sure it doesn' thappen!

They apologised profusely but this still has to be mentioned. On the other hand, the staff simply could not do enough for us and every request was met efficiently from ordering taxis to getting medicines delivered from a local pharmacy in town. The hotel was also incredibly clean and green. We took great pleasure in simply walking around and admiring all the architecture and design themes. We left saying we'd love to find out where they got their pillows from because we'd never slept so soundly before!

The hotel and surroundings we could not fault, a very beautiful place to be. We were here at a very busy time for the hotel and it seemed a few people were having problems with varios things. We were unfortunate that our air con would not work and even more unfortunate that for whatever reason it took us a long time to get anyone to listen to us and help us out. When the penny finally dropped, everything was sorted very quickly and people were very helpful. It was just a shame we had to get really angry before anything was done but we put this down to the hotel being so busy.

We loved the buffet breakfast, as for the other food and drink we found it on the expensive side but if you are used to staying in these sort of places you may think its ok. This was a treat for us.

Our only other gripe was with the service, just expect to ask for everything 3 times and you won't get wound up - you may be in a 5* hotel but this is still Jordan so just go with it!

If all else fails you can rely on the Radisson's money back guarantee if you are not completely satisfied which is great peace of mind.

I took my wife and two teenage daugters here for a week at Easter and it was lovely. The pools were fabulous, the views gorgeous, the food decent the rooms were ok (although the hotel is still quite new and there a few snagging issues with the tiling etc. What made it so enjoyable were the staff who were always so eager to please. My wife wanted to brush up on her Arabic during her staff so a very senior manager gave her hours of time privately, It really makes such a difference.

This hotel reminded me of my first trip to the States where the food was excellent with large spreads and choices where customer satisfaction comes above other things. I note there were a few moans and groans on trip adviser so one checks out how valid these are. This hotel is built on an industrial style in so far that it is very large but personally I don't have an issue with large hotels if the service is good, things get done and it lives up to what you expect. The Radisson Blu does.

I note a previous poster complained about being held up at the security check but all large western style hotels in Jordan have security of an airport style, swab steering wheels and go round the outside with little boxes to measure this and that, so you must expect that security comes above all else when arriving at the hotel.

We paid for a room with a view and a balcony looking over the Red Sea, being travellers the balcony was good for drying the washing on the backs of the chairs, line etc. We are always pleased when we can get the washing done rather than paying fancy prices.

One day in the main restaurant we errored by sitting in a location that was not open but other people did as well - breakfast. That day we didn't get any service and had to chase people for coffee. We learnt the error of our ways and made sure we were seated in the correct area other days. So it appears that if you don't seat in a open air you don't get service and don't get told you are not in the correct place.

Dinner the staff were always attentive with the wine order, clearing the dishes and being friendly whilst you accessed the massive buffet. The male staff tend to be Jordanian and the female staff Philippine least in the restaurant area - I asked. Obviously this is a cultural thing in a western hotel in the middle east. As said perfectly charming and remembered us from day to day. Think even the wine order.

The internet connection both wifi and ethernet was good in the room, no issues with drop out, speed or filtered western sites unlike the Ibis in Amman. An after dinner walk can be down to Tala Bay marina itself a lap round the harbour and a walk back. The hotel complex is part of Tala Bay placed at the western end with walk way through.

Interesting clientèle eat in the hotel from a wide cross section of people. I did notice like the Beetles song that money does not buy happiness, not for some people, at least who stayed at the Raddison Blu, as a few people with attitude existed around the place. I can only think these were failed relationships that the break did not patch up or grumpy people that did not enjoy being one of many in a large hotel complex. Issue with karma here one suspects.

We stayed their whilst visiting the local sites and the area so were not using it as a resort hotel, as such one can't moan and groan about whether one pool bar worked over the other etc and whether one of the restaurants other than the main was this or that since one didn't use them. Our package was breakfast, dinner, sea view balcony and internet connection. It all worked well, the food was excellent and the room very good.

We got a gift on our last day of baby chocolate Easter eggs since it was Easter season which withstood the sun and the heat which we nibbled on for our rest of our journey in Jordan. I did my review via the customer satisfaction survey emailed to me after we checked out and got a thank you from the manager via email. I can't fault this hotel other than the day when we sat in the wrong place at breakfast not helped by other people taking tables off limits but other than that it was good.
