“A great place to relax after a strenuous visit to Petra.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 October 2009

This hotel is very new and had only been taking guests for 4 months when we arrived in October.

The hotel is elegant, cool, bright and airy. Our room was very bright and although our balcony gave us a close up view of 3 or 4 very large freighters on the Red Sea, waiting to load up with phosphate or potash (two of Jordan's main exports); they actually give an interesting contrast, especially when you remember that they will have arrived there after sailing through the Suez Canal or braving Somali pirates as they sailed north - come on, use your imagination.

We only had one hight here as a post-Petra relaxation, but Aqaba would be a great choice for anyone interested in watersports and the Kempinski does have its own private beach on the Red Sea.

Staff were very good, as was the food.

You are crazy to stay anyplace else in Aqaba. From the moment you arrive you are in heaven. The design is superb. Light, airy with warm natural woods, beige marble floors, and glass everywhere - with views across the port. The staff is impeccable. Very professional and so welcoming. No matter WHO you are. Very Suave Bola. And the rooms - perfect. Bone colored wood floor, white bedding, white cabinets/furniture, all rooms face the sea with an ample terrace. The bathroom glass, white and marble everywhere - the showerhead is one of those nice big round ones with perfect pressure - very sleek and clean - the bathroom window by the tub is one big pane of glass that looks into the bedroom and out to the sea. BIG NOTE: for non-smokers the 4th floor is the only non-smoking designated floor so be sure to request a room on that floor if possible. The pool is very nice too - different levels with an infinity edge that you can lie in and look out to sea. The beach is clean and lovely. Plenty of chairs and big umbrellas. The staff is constantly there making sure you have everything you need. From time to time a man comes along with cool wet towels for the face - they even came around and spritzed us with water! Spa city....The concierge was very helpful too - when I asked her to recommend a good place for our anniversary dinner she was very helpful and suggested a couple of options. The next day we came back from the beach and what did we find in our room??? A HUGE Tiramisu cake on a plate with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate on the edge the plate.....Very Classy. The only disappointment was that all of the restaurants weren't open yet in the hotel - they just opened in June so they still have a few finishing touches. The meals we did have there though were terrific - and the breakfast spread is terrific.

The hotel is brand new. Rooms are large, all white and offer a stunning view to the gulf of Aqaba (even from the bathroom...). Pools are beautiful and the staff is extremely friendly. Small perks like free mini bar or compliemntary fruit next to the pool make it even better. Great food at breakfast and dinner. Definetwely the premium paid compared to other Aqaba hotels. Just hoping that the standards will stay as they are after the grand opening.

After a very disappointing experience at the supposed 5 star Le Meridien hotel in Eilat, Israel, my partner and I decided to check out early, cross the border into Jordan and check out the Kempinski hotel in Aqaba. This hotel turned out to be the highlight of our entire 10 day holiday. From the moment we arrived we felt pampered, the staff couldn't be more helpful, friendly or sincere.

Our room had amazing views over the bay of Aqaba (as do all rooms in the hotel) and every detail in the hotel had an exceptional, high quality feel. The hotel's infinity pool is one of the highlights, so is the Am Pm restaurant (for both food and wine). It is easy to make arrangements for water-sports with the hospitality staff at the pool, it is also convenient that the contracted water-sports company would pick you up from the hotel's jetty. A nice touch is that the room's minibar is included in the room price. There is free Wifi in the lobby only, which I found disappointing at first but actually not having access to the internet in the room did help me relax more. We ended up extending our stay from one night to two, then returned for a further two evenings at the end of our holiday.

We did encounter a few minor problems during our stay. A few mornings we were woken up before 08:00 by construction noise. However we stayed in the hotel prior to its official launch, so this should not be a problem in 6 months time (the gym, spa and some of the restaurants were not open yet). My partner is a wheelchair user and I found it very disappointing that a hotel that is part of a luxury international brand would oversee such an important issue as access for wheelchair users (and families with young children in push-buggies). Overall the hotel was very accessible however there were a few areas we had some difficulty getting to. One of the restaurants was only accessible by stairs, there was also no access to the beach or jetty. Despite every effort being made by the staff to be accommodating this is something I feel needs attention. They could also do with some extra tracks on the poolside music system. After about 3 hours you have completed the playlist in its entirety; the type of music played is very appropriate, they just need to extend the library. So remember to take your iPod. On our second day the minibar was not restocked.

Although it costs a bit more than most 5 star hotels, I feel that the experience is worth every cent. It has exceeded my wildest expectations and I look forward to my next visit. At this hotel every guest gets VIP treatment.

The People at the hotel make it what it is. The Jordanians are such hospitable people. The hotel was clean, brand new, AMAZING rooms with great views of the gulf of aqaba and the food was always second to none. They even serve good Jordanian wines.
I am a wheelchair user and although the hotel is not fully accessible they plan to make the changes necessary. Management were very accommodating and couldn't do enough to make our stay more than perfect. We even left Israel to come back. The infinity pool is also something to be raved about. Deffo recommend this place to everyone I talk to.

Words cannot explain the hospitality, lavishness, fun, relaxation and friendliness of staff experienced at the Kempinski Hotel in Aqaba, Jordan. I have traveled to tens of countries and have stayed in hundreds of hotels - I can gladly say that this was the best experience I have had so far.

Traveling so much, you tend to become articulate and very demanding; so, you tend to notice the little things good or bad. I am still baffled by the fact that there were no negatives non whatsoever.

The magic of thinking of something and having it delivered before you blurt it out. The surprise of inviting your children to bake cookies with the desert chefs in their kitchen while listening to fun tunes and then eat all the cookies. The sirenity of the all white fantastic large rooms (all sea view) with their interactive TVs (You have to place the wake up call on your interactive TV). The deliciousness of the Gourmet cuisine with the Middle Eastern twist (Amazing) Weight watchers stay away because you will not want to stop eating.

Small but amazingly equipped beach with superior service. The Pools are WOW! Very comfortable lounge chairs, surrounded by a complex set of pools all mingled together under a large array of tall mabmoo trees above the lush green grass all overlooking the vast and gorgeous Red Sea.

The minute you enter into the hotel premises, you get blown away by the simple yet elegant and classy reception and lounge area with an all glass front overlooking the bamboos and sea view. You are greeted with the coldest freshest coconut refreshing towels and a tangy lemonade mint welcome drink. You are escorted by a very well spoken elegant hostess to your room and are explained to the attributes of your room.

All their rooms are sea view. All are white. The bathtub's facade is all glass where you can enjoy a sea salt bath while looking through your room through the large glass overlooking the sea. The beds and bedding would make you want to stay in bed and watch all the channels on the wall mounted LCD screen.

The Minibar was included with the room - a very practical approach with the Kempinskis.

Most importantly, the staff were amazingly cheerful hosting you and servicing your every need. They make you feel more at home and that they are all there for you and only you. The food is WOW! The people are WOW and the hotel and location are WOW.

If you ever think of a relaxing holiday full of pampering and good times; the Kempinski Aqaba tops them all and is very highly recommended.

My compliments to all the staff at Kempinski – Aqaba, who combined warmth, sincerity and professionalism. Everything was smooth, comfortable, and pleasant.

I was impressed with the rooms. Absolutely gorgeous!! The new technology for the door locks, the fresh (very fresh) fruit, the free drinks from the mini bar, the view, the speakers in the bathroom, the wooden floor in the bathroom (brilliant when you think of the sand), the overall design of the room and the choice of color, and the very comfortable mattress and pillows. I was impressed when I walked back to the room to find how the housekeeping staff made a swan shape of the towel and put my hat on it. The floor mats in the bathroom were not just thrown there, they were displayed nicely. I even took pictures.

Breakfast was great! Staff were so pleasant! The wait staff were available when you needed them, but never overbearing. It was just perfect. And nice choice of colors too at the breakfast table, and beautiful coffee pots!

We rented jet skis. The process was smooth and clear. Staff both at Kempinski and the ones managing the jet skis were courteous and accommodating.

We ordered drinks at the beach. It was delicious!

So overall, amazing attention to the finest of details. I will certainly tell all my friends and associates about this hotel. And I will certainly be back for a longer stay along with friends and family.
