Came there with my family and stayed there for three nights. The service is terrible, the rooms are run down and not very clean. The shower was leaking, the electricity so and so, the furniture on the balcony broken and no towels upon arrival. We had to ask several times to get towels and in one of the rooms the sheets weren't changed since the last people staying in that room...
For breakfast they did not have fresh bread, but bread from the day before. What we in general paid for the food there didn't match up with what we got.
It must have been a great place 3 years ago, but now it has nothing much to offer...
All in all, disappointing.

I did not have high expectations before I went to this hotel as I had read the reviews but tried to have an open mind. However, the whole hotel was rundown, shabby and not very clean. Beds were clean but linen very worn. Rooms dark, terrace door lock broken and did not shut properly. Main door lock not working properly. Holes in ceiling, toilet flush loose, furniture old and scratched. Floors dirty through the hotel. Lack of towels in bathroom, had to use pool towel. No hairdryer, had to ask. Ran out of milk so no coffee after dinner. Food was very poor quality and on first night no choice, just three courses of oily tepid food. I am vegetarian and was given a plate of courgette and carrot as my main course. No desert. Breakfast = no cereal, juice was squash. On second morning, had to wait 20 minutes for coffee, milk, bread and juice.
Staff smiled a lot but were totally untrained. Had to explain how to make a cup of tea which then took 15 minutes to be made. Beach beds old, mattresses old and left out at night. Coral mostly dead and very few fish. Steps from jetty into sea were broken. Loud music playing all the time in all areas. Outdoor lights and perimeter fence broken, cups and plates left lying around. Rubbish piled up along with broken sunshades by fence. a number of people not staying at the hotel came in during the daytime, then the music was even louder! A dreadful,, dirty, rundown place which made Fawlty Towers look like a palace. A sad end to a wonderful trip to Jordan.

I stayed at Coral Bay for 3 night in early September, during an organized tour of Jordan.
In general there is no particular reason to stay in Aqaba: the town hasn't much to offer, apart from small coral reefs and in my opinion spending there half a day is enough.
Coral bay is around 20 km from Aqaba, on the seaside.
It has a small unclean beach enclosed by wire fences, so you can walk along the seaside. Nor you'd want to, because the beach nearby is awfully dirty and covered of plastic bags.
The hotel is very run down and very dirty, with old and crumbling very basic furniture , indifferent plumbing (the shower overflowed at each usage), old and very dirty airconditioning system. It needs a complete renovation. When we arrived the rooms hadn't been cleaned: dirty bathrooms, ash and cigarette butts in the closet, unclean and stained linen on the beds, used or very old soaps/shampoos in the bathrooms. We all protested loudly but with not great results: the hotel hasn't trained staff, just 2-3 boys, polite but totally untrained. They don't have vacuum cleaners, or a laundry service, they took the linen from other empty rooms and we spent the whole afternoon looking for decent sheets and towels and explaining them (in very basic english) what to clean and how.
The food isn't great: basic breakfast, at lunch one can have an overpriced panino or ice cream at the beach bar: the only fruit I've found in 3 days where frozen oranges. Luckily our guide was able to obtain barbecues for dinner, leveraging on our total unsatisfaction.
The travel agency wasn't able to find a different accomodation so we had to stay there.
The only connection with Aqaba is a minibus whith broken doors and chairs and holes on the floor that you have to pay.
If you need to stay in Aqaba don't go there: the only nice thing about the place is the small coral reef in front of the beach and the sunset, I hope they won't ruin that too.

Hotel is very simple. You need to ask for everything (for example, they kept giving us only 1 towel per room, only after asking for additional they sent it to our room). Food is no more than reasonable.
Location is quite and away from the city, but there's a shuttle every hour (cost 1 JD per person), so it's convenient.
The good part is the dive club which is at the hotel (Royal Dive Club) and the beautiful reef right in front of the hotel, which is great for diving and snorkeling.

Honestly i have never had such a bad experience before.

Me and my friend decided to go to Aqaba, since she came from Romania to Jordan, and we booked our room in Coral Bay online.

Hotel Transportation:

When we first arrived to Aqaba we called the hotel many times to know where can we find their shuttle bus and when does it arrive, surprisingly they many times didn't answer the phone. Then later as they answered they said the shuttle bus will be there at this hour but the bus didn't arrive on time and it was very hot in Aqaba, so we had to wait for a long time in the street.

Arrival:

The arrival was actually a horrible thing because the moment we arrived the hotel we found so many people complaining in the lobby and later we realized that the hotel didn't have electricity nor water since one night and they didn't know when is the electricity and water are coming back.

Rooms:

The rooms are awfully dirty, but tidy, our AC was broken we tried to call the reception to change the room but they never answered.

Service:

The service is so bad, we stayed there for 2 nights, not a single time they offered us any towels on the pool and beach, because one time they didn't have any, another time the towels guy wasn't there.

The beach bar many times didn't have any body to serve anything, which is really bad in a hot weather since you feel like drinking all the time. And even when someone is serving there they just want to get to know girls and turn things personal as they were giving us and other girls their numbers and their email addresses....

Safety:

My friend had an accident in the sea by stepping on a sea urchin and surprisingly there was no help offered by the hotel to rescue my friend or make her feel less pain, they didn't have any pain killers, nor a specialist who can help, nothing at all, all we could hear is that she should sit and rest and the pain will go away later. But what happened later is crazy because my friend kept limping for 2 days and later as we went back to Amman she went to the hospital and she had a minor operation to remove all the thrones from the sea urchin which were sticking deep inside her foot skin.

Food:

The breakfast was poor. I could have a greater breakfast in the street somewhere.

Guests:

Obviously the hotel just wants money and for that they let guys in by paying entrance fees of 15 JDs and this means many guys on the beach who were all local guys who were so annoying, they tried to talk to us, they tried to take pictures of us without us knowing they have said some silly things and stupid ways of flirting. We honestly couldn't even relax or enjoy the sun nor the sea nothing at all. And since the hotel just wants the money they wouldn't even bother to ask the guys to leave us alone and go away even when we complained. And later i realized some of these guys were actually working in the hotel and this is how they behaved. It was absolutely awful I have never been through such.

My opinion:

For the rate they are charging people the hotel must be much better than this, or lower the price to 30 JDs per night and let it be the way it is.

Honestly the hotel is bad in all aspects. And I don't recommend anyone to go there. Pay a little more and enjoy your stay.

We didn't expect much from Coral Bay but still... could be better even for low standard hotel.

First of all be prepared for some trick:
You will get free bottle of mineral water from waiter at your first dinner at the hotel. Next evening waiter will ask you if you want to have water NOT mentioning that it's not free anymore. After dinner he will ask you for money (2 Jordan Dinnars = 2€)! Cheap unfair trick!
BTW - you can buy same bottle of water for half a dinnar at the shop.

LOCATION
Hotel is located next to the navy base, over the sea just 4km from Saudi Arabia border and 17km from Aqaba wich is nearest town. There is large industrial center just 2km SE from hotel with two large chimney stacks (luckily wind was blowing from NW most of the time).

TRANSPORTATION
Hotel bus frequently shuttle between Aqaba price: 1JD.
Taxi - aprox. cost: 10JD.
hitch hike - price depends on you generosity. It's rather easy to hitch hike in Jordan as people there are very friendly.

HOTEL
Hotel is samall and does not have any lifts so ask for ground floor if you're to lazy or to old to use stairs ;). There is a hotel beach and a nice reef in the sea. Sea is accesible only from a pier (be careful at the steps - they're very slippery). There are no recreation facilities! Be prepared for boring stay if you're planning to be in the hotel. There is a beach volleyball field but NO BALL in the hotel!!!

ROOM
Our room was kept clean during our entire stay, bed was clean. Room service was very good. Housekeepers were polite. Towels were changed daily. Room and especially bathroom standard is not high. TV in the room - most channels arabic some english and french. Free of charge, PIN protected safebox in the room.

FOOD
No variety. Same food most of the time. Difficult to get to food when large group arrives to the hotel - staff seams like suprised when suddenly all food is gone after 5 minutes and we had to wait for a long time to get anything, usually one by one item. NO REAL MILK!!! Powder milk tastes awful so forget about cereals for breakfast! Very expensive restaurant especially in this standard! Prices vary depending on waiter! For us tea was 5 JD(!) and our friends had 2 teas for 4JD! Glass of wine was 5JD as well. In Aqaba you will pay half a dinnar for tea and approx. 3JD for a small meal. ~15JD for a dinner in good restaurant.
Not convenient time for dinner: 7pm-10pm wihich is too late in my opinion.

SUMMARY
Low standard, boring place to stay but at least clean. Expensive restaurant forced us to do shopping in Aqaba. Not very nice surrounding (industrial centre) but very nice reef.

Our stay in Jordan was great, there is a lot to see in this beautiful country, people are friendly and honest!

Room Tip: Most rooms have sea view. No lifts so ask for a ground floor if you don't like stairs.

I had booked Coral Bay without knowing that it was a good 20+ minutes drive from Aqaba - it is FAR, well past the large hotel establishments, and royal diving club, it's in fact right next to the royal navy and marine club - we had to drive past a garrison and armed truck to reach the hotel since it was right next to the navy. Besides taking ages to find the hotel, we discovered on arrival that the water and electricity supply has been cut (supposedly the whole area suffered the disruption). Thankfully, these had resumed by the time we returned in the evening. Other than that, coral bay is secluded, with not much in the way of a beach. The view from the bed of our room of the beach was nice but generally speaking I'm not sure that the distance is worth the commute for this sort of beach access and average hotel facilities.
