“lovely filipino staff !”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

the facilities of the hotel were in line with the 5 stars standard I expected so, in that regard, the hotel, is perfect.
I couldn't help noticing, however, that while the local staff was sometimes cold, unfriendly and inexperienced in customer service, the Filipino staff brought smiles, warmth and kindness to an environment which would be sterile and cold otherwise.

Room Tip: take a sea view. the rear view is horrible !

We stayed for two nights in InterConti Aqaba. After an exhausting trip through the desert of Wadi Rum, this was a welcoming luxury treat. The hotel is located right next to the beach and has its own beach (access). While this is not the beautiful, sandy beach you have in your mind from postcards, the access to the sea is definitely a plus. In our opinion though, the swimming pools of the InterConti were much better for swimming, very clean and well taken care of. Further positive factors: Clean and tidy rooms, great massage services and a variety of restaurant options inside the InterConti. However, the best - the breakfast! We have never ever in our travels experienced a better breakfast than in the InterConti Aqaba. We are still now raving about it.

The Intercontinental is an attractive property that could have done better. A restaurant that closes at 11 pm declined to seat us (party of six) at 10:30 even though it had no customers. The cocktail lounge charges a hefty price for outdoor seating, and declined to wave it for our party even though one of our party is pregnant and could not be in the cigarette smoke. A room in which the water had only one available temperature--scalding hot--was not fixed, in spite of the repair persons assurance that it was, making bathing a challenge.

On a positive note, Noor, the manager of the breakfast service, was charming, solicitous and informative. We applaud her professionalism. May it inspire others of the staff.

Great location right on the beach about 10 mins walk from downtown Aqaba. This is a big hotel with pumping music around the poolside which does travel up into the rooms. That said, poolside activities are quiet in the evenings. Great Lebanese restaurant on site and very good staff in all areas. Thursday nights are premium rates with lots of families making the journey down from Amman for the weekend (Friday -Saturday). Rooms are a little crowded with furniture but quite large with sizeable balconies. A good choice if you need to be in Aqaba.

We had the most glorious stay here. Yaser at the front desk was a delight. He made us feel very special, as we are platinum ambassador with the intercontinental hotels group. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the staff went out of their way to make it a special stay for us. The beach is wonderful. The rooms are great and the pool is amazing. The concierge was also so accomodating and efficient. Overall a delightful stay.
