Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel

Stayed at the Marriott Associa Nagoya in the peak of Japan summer which is extremely hot and humid-however, the stay here made it so much better and comfortable. The hotel is very centrally located, sits atop the JR, subway stations and the bullet train to Tokyo. There is also a giant mall, where you can go for any type of food (mostly Japanese) or go to any of the high end stores to shop. The front desk is on the 15th floor, which has spectacular views of downtown Nagoya. We were early, so the bell took our bags and allowed us to go to lunch first in one of the many restaurants below. When we returned, we were able to check in to our 20th floor which also had great views of the city below-across from that twirled shaped iconic building which they told me was a school. The room had nice comfortable beds, a workdesk, lots of closet space, a huge bathroom with lots of counterspace, a wonderful Japanese toilet with all the bells and whistles. Their amenity kit is not only soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, but also toothbrush, toothpaste, shaving cream and razor, mouthwash, bathsponge, cotton, q tips, beauty kit for men and women, slippers, hairbrush, etc etc! I have never seen a hotel provide so many amenities on a daily basis! Their shampoo, conditioner, body wash are in giant bottles, so they are dispensers and do not add plastic bottles to the trash. It took me a few minutes to differentiate the shower from the bidet in the toilet and get used to all the controls, but the one thing I could not figure out was the stand up iron/presser which was kind of hard to use to press your clothes. I amy have been able to order a regualr "American" flat iron but didn't bother to do that. Other than that, the hotel is awesome, centrally located for business or pleasure, very accessible, generous with toiletries, great sleep quality and staffed by very courteous employees!

Room Tip: Get a high floor for spectacular views of Nagoya!

As a returned guest, I still believe Marriott is the best choice in Nagoya.
However, suggested the management to:
- turn on air-conditioner in elevators to save guest from suffocation especially when you need to take a ride all the way to 53/F
- relocate the electric sockets as they are too close to the desktop and to each other such that you can’t put 2 plugs together
- read guests’ request on reservation form to meet guests’ expectation
- keep amenities available in same room type consistently (Margaret Josefin skin care set was present in certain double rooms but not others)

Stayed here on a business trip. Location was fantastic, right on top of the train station. Sound proofing was fantastic, perhaps helped by the fact that I was on the 45th floor. Certainly could not hear the neighbours going about their business, like in many other hotels, especially in the United States. Room was not huge, but good sized by Japanese standards. Bathroom was great, with a bath tub overlooking the city! Service was excellent as per usual Japanese standards. Concierge was super-helpful. Wifi was free and available everywhere, at high speed. However one inconvenience was that the gym, health club and pool could only be accessed by a special elevator in the same floor as the lobby. Otherwise it is a great hotel that I will return to if I need to come to Nagoya again.

A joy on our train tour of Japan.

Great location over the train station(really important for us coming from Hakone), the hotel is so high you have wonderful views of Nagoya.
Staff were superb especially in the concierge lounge. My husband had left his ipad on the train from Hakone and the concierge rang the station to discover it was waiting for him in lost property at the next stop. We could not have managed this without that wonderful lady.

Our room was beautiful and clean, no smoking was a priority and the Japanese restaurant KA-UN served delicious food and yummy Aragoshi Umeshu(plum wine ).

We visited Nagoya castle which told an interesting tale and the Noritaki factory which had such a great variety of wonderful craft.

Only 1 night in Nagoya Marriott but one we'll remember before we headed to Hiroshima.

I would definately head for this hotel again. It's by far the highest I've stayed on the 25th floor.
The hotel is premium with brilliant service and everything you would expect in a top notch place but then the Japanese do even more and exceed all expectations.
Breakfast could take all day, be warned! There is so much to chose from you won't need to eat again all day!
The rooms are a little small but very comfortable, clean and quite perfectly fitted.
The views are right across the city, apart from when it's very cloudy of course.
The subway Tain station runs belw the hotel in the shopping mall, so easy access and convenient.
If you want to go anywhere else hop on the high speed train which stops outside the hotel.

Room Tip: The reception staff speak English, so ask them. Higher rooms are probably quietest.

Dear All,

This hotel's name is Marriot, but the level of service is LOW.
for my cousin and his wife, I brought a bottle of good wine to the restaurant, but the floor manager told me "not acceptable!"
I had never such experience and I was puzzled ....OK though, but how could he announce such in front of everybody? I was so ashamed.

Room Tip: このホテル内で食事を取ろうとか、ラウンジでくつろいでも不快な思いをする可能性が高いので、レストランやバーは別のほうがいいです。 If you dine or drink, never use the...

Used Marriott Rewards Points to book room so not surprised when given a small corner room - we struggled to find floor space to open the suitcase.
Room & bathroom were well equipped & clean. Although overlooking railway station noise was not a problem.
2 issued hacked me off. Charge of JPY 3,400 to use the pool & a cover charge of JPY 1,080 per person just to enter the bar on the top floor even
before you pay top dollar for a drink !
