The Chisun Inn is a good cheap option given its location if you're just passing through. It's a no frills place, the rooms are very small but to rest for 8 hours and move on it's fine for £50. If you're planning to explore Nagoya the station area is actually a bit ropey so it's not a good location for the more vibrant area of Sakae, which is a 20 minute walk away.

Looking at the floor plan in our room we appeared to have one of the bigger rooms, and it was still small, so the others, unless singles must be tiny!

Been to the Chisun Inn a few times now, and have never had cause to complain. One time I lost my key and had to pay for that, but that's hardly something I can complain anyone else for.
The location is very good, just 4 minutes walk from Nagoya station and within touching distance of major shops and restaurants (especially the fantastic Yama-chan!). It also helps that the hotel is a garish yellow colour as you can't possibly miss it even from a distance.
The rooms are typically Japanese; small, compact, comfortable and very clean. The service is good and the staff are friendly. The breakfast is fine but was too busy for me mostly, with it sometimes being difficult to get a seat. Mind you, if you go early enough it won't be a problem.
Anyway, I can definitely recommend this hotel. It's far from amazing but it does make for a very comfortable stay.

The room of the hotel are relative small, but clean and tidy.
The sound isolation is not good.
My room face to street and a bit noisy.

Stayed for 4 nights with my Teenager. Although the room is small but it is well equipped with mini fridge, hair dryer, tea maker, free wifi... Its location is great with Nagoya station only 4 to 5 mins walk. It also has a lawson mini mart at ground level for drinks and snacks but the vending machine on my floor has drinks almost the same price as the mini mart. You can wash your clothes on the second floor of the hotel too...however, 4 days of the exaxt same breakfast was a little too much for me...if I stay there again in the future, i will not eat the breakfast in the hotel...there are alot of restaurants in the nagoya station with better and cheaper breakfast...

O.K. so the hotel rooms are really small, but for those who are used to traveling , the room is the perfect size for one person especially when traveling on a budget. It is really close to the train station which is convenient and clean and has everything you need, and I got it for $50 a night which was perfect for the budget. I would definitely recommend this hotel to the single traveller!

I gave it a 4 out of 5 for it's excellent location! Just 5mins walk to the Nagoya Station and there is Lawson market just at ground level if you need some light snacks or drinks.
A little hiccup upon check-in though. We booked for a twin room but only realised we were given a semi double when we entered the room. Receptionist insisted initially after we went back down that we had the semi double but good thing we had email confirmation to show it's for a twin room. He relented and apologised for the mistake.
Room is very clean and well maintained though the walls are too thin. You could hear the noises outside and if your neighbours are noisy, one could only imagine those nusances.
All-in, a value-for-money hotel with great location, clean and comfy room. Bathroom is small (like all hotels in Japan) but all basic amenities supplied.

Stayed here for 2 nights because I foolishly thought it might be OK given that it was only slightly cheaper than Toyoko Inn - bad move! To be fair, the breakfast selection is excellent (better than most), but this is the only real positive I would say. Rooms are tiny (although that doesnt really bother me) but when you see door after door after door arcing away from you in the corridor it does have a prison-like feel and the tiny grille window/vent in the bathroom adds to the effect! My main issues are however as follows:

1. The windows in the room and bathroom are arranged such that they can only be opened a crack unless you have a screwdriver handy - bad news if your only escape route was via the window in a fire or earthquake.

2. The room was extremely hot, the air conditioning did nothing and the window can only be opened about 2 inches. I complained and was told that all rooms were set to the same temperature so there was nothing they could do. I had to use a fan borrowed from reception both nights - and this was April not August!

3. I booked a non-smoking room - however, the room stank of cigarettes once other guests started arriving - smoke from other rooms wafts through the A/C vent irrespective of whether the A/C is on or off. After being told there was nothing they could do I moved room for the second night - same problem though.

4. Because the rooms are tiny, the edge of the bed serves as the chair for the pull-out desk - this means the mattresses become compressed on one side - cue a night of rolling to the right all the time! Same problem in both rooms.

So, if you like hot, smoky, cramped rooms then this is a great place! There are far better hotels in Nagoya for similar prices.
