“Scrummy food, really friendly staff,”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 September 2013

This restaurant isn't far from the hotel Best Western where we were staying. It was packed with foreigner visitors but don't let that put you off as the food is excellent. The staff spoke enough English to get by and we're very friendly and welcoming. We ordered the Hida Beef which you cook on a BBQ on the table and also the Hiba Beef with Hiba miso, both were wonderful and tender. At £40 for 2 I thought it was pretty good value as that included rice, miso soup and beer.

“Great quality of beef!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 September 2013

I went there to try the famous Hida beef with hooba miso. The place was OK, very well located. Just a few steps from the old part of Takayama. The price was also correct and the quality of the food was very good. The beef was so soft and juicy. The vegetables were also very good.

The staff were very friendly with me. Price it's ok. Around 3000 yen for 150 gr of beef. Average at all.

“Nice food, nice restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2013

Pleasant, in a side street, recommended by our hotel. Staff were friendly, spoke enough English, and both the food and decor were very pleasant. Overall we had a nice evening and I'd recommend going here.

“Lovely Dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2013

All of us ordered Hida Beef on Hoba Leaf and it was really good. A bit saltier than other places but still good beef. However, the beef grade was lower I think since it wasn't the tenderest that we've had.

“Wouldn't Go Back”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 November 2012

My foodie sensibilities were challenged when the chef came by to ask if it was o.k. to mix our dishes into one. Yeah, we were having one chicken hot-pot (don't remember what the type of dish is called) and one pork hot-pot so they probably wouldn't have been terribly different. But the restaurant was mostly empty and I don't really know if the chef asked us if he could just cook it all together because it really would taste better that way (his explanation) or whether he didn't feel like cooking two separate dishes. Maybe I was already annoyed that they charged extra for a bowl of rice.
