“Free and well worth it”

Takayama Municipal Government Memorial Hall
Ranked #29 of 159 things to do in Takayama
Attraction details
Reviewed 4 October 2013

This is by the bridge near the Edo government buildings so you can contrast the two periods quite easily. This has photos from the turn of the century, through the war and up until it was closed. There are several portraits of local politicians and government officers, it's very small but lovely.
Favourite bit, all the old advertising posters for Takayama and the surrounding area, including the anime that was set here.
As usual, it's shoes off but slippers are available, when I was there it was mostly elderly Japanese sitting and gossiping.
