This art museum has an interesting permanent exhibition, whose artists are mostly related to Shimane in some shape or form, and a changing special exhibit that runs for a couple of months at a time. From time to time there are also local artist and photography exhibitions held which can be viewed free of charge.
There is a cafe/restaurant and restroom facilities inside, along with a small library and souvenir shop.
The view from the park outside this museum gives one of the best views of the sunset over Lake Shinji, and there are a number of sculptures in the park to be enjoyed also.
The archetectural design is quite distinctive, and is said to represent and artist's painting palette, and also said to look like the sun setting over Lake Shinji.
