Definitely the best thing about this hotel is the location. Being above the domestic airport makes for very convenient transfers. We had a triple room , the third bed being a rather uncomfortable sofa bed. As experienced in other Japanese hotels, the pillows were terrible and the room was way too hot. Air conditioning was on heat only, so there was no way of cooling the room down. The buffet breakfast was good and had some western choices [eggs/sausages/fruit/ croissant cereals etc] Staff were lovely and helpful. Our room was not ready at check in. but we were able to leave our suitcases and took the JR line and visited Sapporo. Station is in the airport. I would really recommend this if you have a little time. There is also a large retail outlet near the airport. The shops at the airport are fantastic and we got our dinner from there. Also in the morning before our flight we went around the huge variety of food shops, many of which have free samples to taste [ good and bad! - what I thought was a sweet ended up being a a fishy /shrimpy pellet - which is all part of the fun! Would definitely recommend for a early morning flight.

As the only hotel in the airport, Air Terminal Hotel is simply unbeatable for connections if you are flying in to Ski/Snowboard. Located above the domestic terminal, you can enjoy very nice rooms (albeit no English TV) at reasonable prices, with a nice breakfast buffet. Make sure you choose smoking or non smoking and the relevant breakfast (or not).

The bed itself is nice, with a very good quality pillow; has a little aircraft noise, but that's not surprising since you are staying in....an airport.

The airport itself has loads of dining, with an excellent alley featuring various Hokkaido noodles; each time I stay I try a different one, and still haven't got to the end. Loads of places for gift buying, and if you wanted and got here early enough, there is a rail station to go to Sapporo which I understand to be about 40min away.

As always, loads of vending machines, this is Japan after all!

One thing, while some of the reception speak quite good English, it is easiest if you have prebooked online (often cheaper also) and don't have anything too odd to ask.

If you are coming in by bus from a ski resort bus (e.g. Hokkaido resort liner) then get off at the domestic terminal and it's about 100m walk to get there - by far the easiest/simplest solution for people who are flying early the next day (e.g. flight to Bangkok leaves 1055, so this means here you can get up at 830am, breakfast, and walk over to the international terminal, no fuss, no taxis, no risk of getting there late).

Free wifi in the lobby until about 11pm I think. But not in room.

Room Tip: Make sure you choose non smoking if you want non smoking

We booked a double room for two adults and a 15 month old baby (baby stays free - we have our own bed for her). I booked it sufficiently early, such that even on a (peak) night stay (on 30th December), I only paid about Y9,000 on booking.com. We stayed two nights - one on our arrival to Hokkaido, as we had been travelling since morning and wanted a night's rest before more travelling the following day, and another night for our next day's early morning flight out.

The room was compact but with sufficient space for our luggage (skis, snowboard, two suitcase), and then some for our toddler's bed. The stay includes buffet breakfast which we only used for our first night when we had time to catch the coach to Niseko in the morning. On our second stay, our flight was too early to care about breakfast!

Breakfast is good - great spread of Japanese and western-style eggs, toast, beans, etc.

The best bit of this hotel is the location: it is part of the domestic terminal of Chitose airport and is a mere 5 mins walk from the ANA check in counter.

Obviously we wouldn't stay here for sight-seeing etc, but I find it is worth its price for the convenience as I suppose other hotels near Chitose is still a drive /shuttle bus away.

I have stayed at the Air Terminal Hotel previously so it was nice to be back in a familiar hotel. I had a very early morning flight to catch, and it was very convenient to be close to the check-in counter. Imagine waking up at 6am, rolling out of bed, go down 2 floors, walk 300m and check-in for your flight!

Rooms are small but spacious enough for a couple of suitcases. It is very basic but it just works. You probably won't be spending a lot of time in your room anyway. Chitose Airport has endless forms of entertainment to keep you occupied. Your stay in the hotel will allow you to use the airport onsen, which is surprisingly clean and efficient. The onsen is like a spa area where you can chill out in your yukata, drink tea, have a massage, go for a dip in the onsen, etc. Then go to ramen-dojo (ramen street, modelled after the famous street in Sapporo with rows and rows of ramen shops), have a bowl of the famous ebi-ramen (prawn ramen), and head to the arcade game shop at the 3rd level and play some silly games with your friends. Great fun.

Breakfast at the hotel is decent which caters to both Westerners and Japanese. Check-out is easy. For this cheap price, you are getting a very good-value hotel stay.

I stayed in a triple room while waiting to catch an early morning flight.

While noting several negative feedback from other contributors, I wasn't disappointed during my stay. Some had too high expectations and probably wouldn't be disappointed if they had done their research of what the hotel offers and what it doesn't. Obviously, it isn't the Ritz !

Booking was simple enough via their website which had English instructions
Price was 5,200 yen per person including breakfast and unlimited access to the onsen located at the airport 4th floor about 10 minutes walk away

The hotel is located at the JAL end of the domestic airport or Bus Stop No 1 of the domestic airport.

My room was spacious by Japanese standards, clean with ensuite bathroom and bathtub, teapot, full amenities (toothbrush, razor, soap, shampoo, conditioner, hair brush and comb) and sleeping pajamas. Only gripe was the aircon setting that we couldn't lower to bring down the temperature.

Check-in at 3pm was quick, hassle free and friendly and the Reception managed to effectively communicate with his limited English.

Breakfast was adequate with juices, hot beverages, western (bread, rolls, pastries, sausages), and Japanese cuisine (porride, miso soup). There is free wi-fi in the reception area of the hotel.

From the hotel, it is about 15 minutes walk to the International Terminal which is linked by a covered walkway. There are plenty of restaurants and shops (including a Royce outlet) at the airport within walking distance of the hotel. If you re buying Royce chocolates, it is slightly cheaper in the Duty free shop in the International Terminal after you clear Immigration.

If you have more time, you can take a free shuttle ride (10 minutes) to an Outlet Mall.

I found this hotel roomier than many other Japanese hotels, both in the bath and the room. The best thing of this hotel is that it is so conveniently located at the terminal, and it's a very good way to relax after a long flight, especially if you plan to skip Sapporo and travel to other sites. The breakfast is included and the quality is better than in other places with free breakfast. It also has free access to the airport spa ("on-sen") -- yes, there is one, on floor 4 at the terminal.

We loved how the hotel was right above where we landed in Sapporo airport. The lift to the hotel was accessible on the left hand corner near where the info counter as well as the shuttle buses counters. Even tho my booking listed as no breakfast included, we were pleasantly surprised that breakfast was included for free. Simple Japanese fare but some nice breads. But for the price the room is not very big but I guess the premium paid is for the location. I paid about US$155 for a triple booking thought Agoda. Also no wifi in the room which was a bumper. But since most people will only stay a night, it does not quite matter :) will stay again if I need to catch an early flight or arrive late in the night and catch an early bus to Niseko which is what I did this trip. Do note for those landing around 8pm, grab dinner before checking in as the shops all closed around 830pm. We were lucky to make the last order for MOS burgers.
