This place is a little bit outdated but not a big deal. It is clean and warm and right the centre of Hakodate - you are just 100 metres from the train station and 10-15mins walk from the old warehouses and the historical district. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants nearby.
The hotel staff was great. They even included breakfast free of charge and opened the dining hall 15mins earlier in order to catch an early train out of Hakodate.

A no frills family run Ryokan minutes away from the JR station & the morning market. Was given free, simple breakfast with eggs, toast, coffee, tea & milk. Don't mind as the breakfast can be easily satisfied at the morning market. Private hot tub bathroom available for reservation, really comfortable to soak in hot bath after a day out in winter cold.

Our twin bed room was quaint but equipped with all necessary amenities, brightly lighted with Mount Hakodate as the window view.

Highly recommended if you wish to experience a Ryokan stay when on a tight budget.

I just reviewed Ibis and pointed out how basic Ibis nowadays but then I found this small hotel with even less basic than Ibis. Again basic is not a bad thing but sometimes you are on vacation and you need more than just basic comfort.

For example this hotel located in Hokkaido, one of the coldest area i had been to (near 0 Celcius degree) and turn out this hotel basic heater was so basic that i was heated uncomfortably or should I said insufficient. The 🛀 bathroom 🚽 was so small and cold, I decided not to take a bath as I was getting sick 😷 of the cold weather (it's freezing I wear 5 layers of clothing). This hotel is NOT for someone who came from hot weather county.

The only positive point ☝️ is : C H E AP

So if you are looking for cheap hotel with very basic features then go ahead. I rather stay at Sheraton 4 Points nearby Station which has all you can eat Shabu2 to warm you up

Spent 2 nights with family group of 5 adults and 1 elder. The hotel is dated and operated by two elders. The frond desk uncle is friendly. Hotel offers all basis needs, simple breakfast, and free parking. Location is great: 3 min walk to morning market.

Room tip: Value for money

Friend trip. Room size was beyond expectation for 3 pax. Place is well kept even, it seem a bit worn out. Free breakfast consist of Soft boiled egg (hard egg white, soft yoke kind), toasts with coffee, Tea or milk. Love it, will book it again when i return.

Room tip: If you are going heavy carry-ons, let the recep know. They will unlock the lift for you.
