“Beautiful During Sakura Season”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2014

The old fort which was converted into a park is an excellent place for a stroll or picnic during Sakura season in early May.

Soak in the holiday atmosphere with many photo opportunities while getting a healthy workout at the same time. What more can you ask for?!

The magistrate building which is the centre piece of the park is an engineering marvel in its own right. Having watched the video which was screening in the building museum on how the many skilled craftmans rebuilt the building to its original specs was a real eye opener. The build was based on traditional construction technics which was like putting together a house with lego parts. Totally amazing.

Not an attraction to miss out especially during Sakura season.

“cherry blossoms”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 May 2014

Great spot for cherry blossom parties. Interesting fort similar to that in Halifax, Canada. Good place to ride a bike or take a row boat for a ride.

“Splendid viewing of cherry blossom”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2014

We drove 3 hours from Niseko to this hotel to enjoy the famous cherry blossom. The view was extremely impressive with so many sakura trees together. Parking there was easy, cheap and convenient.

“Great place for cherry blossom”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2014 via mobile

We were at Goryokaku Park right at the time of cherry blossom and was amazed by the abadance of cheery trees and arrangements of the park.

Goryokaku is in star shape and with a outer park and inner park separated by a moat. Cherry trees are planted on both sides of the moat in abandance so when we visited right at the peak of the blossom we were totally blown away.

Park is clean and refreshing so in pecfect fit for a leisure walk along the moat. The inner park area houses historical buildings and exhibitions of the history of the great worriors in their last stand. So both outer and innet parks should not be missed.

“If you are in time for sakura”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 May 2014

It's pretty beautiful and it's free. But be prepared to walk. Especially you are looking for best looking cherry blossomy trees.

Bus way to access is actually by bus. Alight that a library bus stop after goryokaku. It's nearer to walk there so that you end at the tower side.
