“Nice buildings, totally touristy stores”

Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse

A nice collection of buildings on the waterfront, a 10 minute walk from the fish market, but barely worth it if you are not interested in touristy gift shops selling mostly the exact same things as most if the other touristy gift shops we had already seen.

These old warehouses are now full of chintzy shops with little or no reference to their history or original purpose. If you're out that way, maybe go by for a photo opportunity - otherwise avoid - they are a tourist trap

The red bricks warehouse buildings here offer not just great picture backgrounds but also great shopping and dinnung places for good 2-3 hours.
We were here for the glass products and music boxes and found that this place is simply packed with attractions. 明治館 is a great place for people who admire the great craftmanships of glass and other products. Compared to the many glass products shops in Octaru, we found that the glass products here are not just comparable but sometimes exceeds the quality you can find in Octaru.
The wine shop, stuffed bear shop, music boz shop and ect... are also great shops to visit to admire the craftmanships and for shopping souvenirs.
Outside of shops we walked around the red brick warehouses and stayed a while to just watch the sea view. There is a boat tour for the harbour but we didn't have time for it.
For you visiting Hakodate this is the place you must come.

If you drive, you will find difficult to car park especially weekend and public holidays.

In terms of shopping, pretty average close around 7pm, dining around 8-9pm...

But there is a big supermarket, we saw lots of people going in. We concentrate to walk the shopping area instead.

The warehouse looked nice from outside, but the inside is just a tourist trap shopping centre. Nice location to take pretty pictures, but I probably wouldn't go back there.
