I had a corner room on the 36th floor with awesome views of Tokyo and Mt Fuji. I stayed 3 nights here and found the room to be spacious for Japan, well appointed, clean and comfortable. The breakfast had a large selection of food items, although it got busy at times. Lots of tour buses stay here. We ate at the restaurant upstairs and the food was very good. The staff did not speak much English and we had to find one who did. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the Tokyo Bay and higher up for the views.

Having meeting and function over here. In general, the room can consider clean, comfort and compact type; all Japanese hotel room are like this. Water pressure in the bath room are strong, nice to relax from day tiredness. Next to Makuhari MESSA conventional hall. 10 minutes walk from Kaihinmakuhari station. Located near the factory outlet and shopping complex. Tallest hotel in that area.

I'm not rating this hotel poorly because it's old, I'm giving it 2 stars because the rooms are dirty and ill-equipped. Very dusty rooms with some molding in the bathrooms. A/C did not work properly at all and it was a very hot June time frame. No iron to iron clothes and only 2 bath towels at a time. The views we had on the 26th floor helped the situation but there is simply no excuse for a 3 star hotel to be dirty/moldy/dusty like this. If it weren't for the cheap price and no other option for the dates I chose for this work trip, I would have been very upset. Very deceiving for this hotel to bill itself as a 3 star venue.

Room Tip: Get a high floor so you can at least enjoy the great view if nothing else.

I read that the room size is more than average in Tokyo. It is located about one hour away from Tokyo Station, at Kaihimmakuhari (JPY 550 fare, in May 2014). The Hotel New Otani Makahari is connected by an overhead bridge, and it is possible to walk to the nearest JR station through this same walkway. There is a separate building for the meeting area, also connected by a bridge. The breakfast was average and sufficient, with mainly western style food. It was fresh, but not remarkable. The TV only had Japanese channels and even the American ABC and the British BBC were dubbed, live, in Japanese. The pillows were futon-hard, rock solid, which hindered the sleep quality. The bathroom, with a proper bathtub and shower was adequate, but small, as in usual Tokyo hotels. The toilet was integrated with heating and automatic bidet. There was a minibar, kettle and iron in the room. It is a good base if you are satisfied with the price, and do not mind being 1 hour away from the city centre by train (and a brisk 10 minute walk from there). Not recommended if you there to visit Tokyo mainly. It is close by train to Tokyo Disneyland, with one change, or by taking a tour bus.

Room Tip: Choose an upper floor room you get a view of the QVC baseball stadium and Tokyo Bay

It's very difficult to find a 3 person hotel room in Japan. They usually add one more bed to the already tiny space but this hotel, even they did so, it's still pretty spacious. It is definitely great value, nice room with very free public hot bath area (Onsen), indoor and outdoor, a 24 hour convenient store in the hotel, good amenity. We stayed there for Tokyo Disney Resort- it 's about 10 -15 minute walk to the JR station (there's shuttle available on the schedule) and another 15 minute by JR express to Maihama station for the park, a little far, but with the value price and hotel quality, definitely worth it.

My family stayed at Apa Hotel Makuhari from Apr 17-21 2014. We were already booked by the travel agency when I heard negative comments about the hotel. I tried to arrange for another hotel but none was available anymore given the short notice. It turned out that the hotel was very nice and pleasant to stay. It was so busy with a lot of guests which could mean that this is a preferred hotel by business travellers and tourists. We got 2 de luxe rooms (my kids are already teenagers so we had to get them their own room plus so we don't need to rush the use of bathroom). Our rooms have 2 beds and a couch and were a bit bigger than the other rooms with a view of Tokyo bay and the baseball stadium. I think the rooms ending in 14 and 34 are bigger. Bathroom is a bit small but clean with tub, toilet bowl with shower/bidet, small wash sink and a dispenser with shampoo, conditioner and bath gel. The closet/clothes cabinet facing the powder area was a bit small but ok. Toiletries are complete and I was even amazed to see a vacuum-sealed sponge which you may use for your body when you take a bath. There's Lawson convenience store at the 2nd level.Hotel is close to a lot of restaurants, outlet shopping, shopping malls and JR train station but quite far from Tokyo, about 25-30 minute train ride from Makuhari station. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and can consider staying again in this hotel.

Room Tip: Get rooms on the higher floor. Rooms ending in 14 and 34 (corner rooms) are bigger and have a good v...

Just got back to HI after a conference in Tokyo. Apa is a well-appointed hotel with a lovely public bath, spa and lounge on the 50th floor. It is right next to the Makuhari Messe, providing direct access to the convention halls. The 2 restaurants I tried were sub-standard in the quality of the food. The cafe had less than impressive pizzas; the breakfast buffet was cheapo food at $25 per head and the decor was shabby. What disappointed me most was that these 2 establishments would not let me charge to the room. That said, I was happy with my room and the service provided by the hotel staff, who made it a point to make our stay pleasant.

Room Tip: Great views in every direction.
