“Good value for money”
Reviewed 30 October 2010

Having read previous reviews I was apprenhensive about this hotel. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Very convenient with covered walkway to Messe. Yes, my room was small but so am I and I was travelling alone, so it didn't matter. The hotel in general was very clean, and my room in particular was well-equipped with all necessary gear (eg: internet access), clean and quiet. 23rd floor with great view across Tokyo Bay. Non-smoking. Many reasonable restaurants within easy walking distance. Stayed 4 nights. Shuttle bus to airport. Free bus to rail station although it's just as quick to walk.

Firstly the location is the best for anyone going for the exhibition at Makuhari. It's the closest hotel and very convenient to go through the connecting walk way.

It was also very good to have the convenient store within the hotel. I had friends staying at Spring Hotel - a very nice hotel, but late at night when it was freezing cold we had to run to the 7-Eleven for some thing we forgot to bring.

The rooms, however, were fairly old and stuffy. The bathroom seemed as though it was premade in a boxlike shape and just put into the room afterwards. There was a strong smell in the room, I'm not too sure if it's the stuffiness or the smokers before my stay. However, the rooms were reasonably clean and it had everything I needed.

The beds were nice and comfortable, but they were placed with the head by the walls behind the glass windows. The cold came in right through and made half the bed cold throughout the night and so I ended up sleeping on the opposite side instead.

The shops were a bit far, and the station into Tokyo was even further. Therefore, this hotel is only recommended to those attending the an exhibition for a few days.

The hotel is old, rooms are small, room also smelled bad. I didn't have any place to put my bags, almost no room in the closet, had to climb over stuff to get to my bed. Internet speed was incredibly slow, so slow you couldn't do any work on the internet. Just sending an email takes 10 minutes.

The bed was also particularly bad, certainly over a long day on the fair. You can actually feel the springs in the mattras.

Breakfast was fair, not great but fair.

If you go for business, take the New Otani or Hotel Francks.

There is barely anything to do in the Chiba area unless you're going to a convention (TGS for example) which is why we stayed here. The hotel is really large, but if you want to do anything, internet cafe, etc it costs money.

There is only one cafe that is cheap and it's a pizza cafe, which was really good and a fair value. The Rooms were sooooooo small.

You're only 45 minutes away by train to Tokyo and 1 hour away by train to Akihabara. Go there and spend the day instead of wasting your time around Chiba. Seriously NOTHING TO DO.

There is a LAWSONS in the hotel, laundry (cheap), and maybe three boutiques. There are two or three malls near by but I didn't like them.

It's a great location if you are going to be at the Makuhari Messe, but that's about it.
Oh one more thing, they have LCD TVs in each elevator but they keep playing the same thing over and over again, all I can think of is APA!

I was nervous to book this hotel after reading other reviews, but it was a busy weekend at the Messe and this was the only hotel available for two nights at a semi-reasonable price.

The location is convenient for visiting the Makuhari area and for shopping. The hotel is also a stop on the bus line to Narita airport. The front desk staff were pleasant and spoke English. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a good variety and the 24-hour convenience store in the hotel was very handy.

The rooms were small (typical for Japan) and stuffy... no ventilation and no cool air available in March.

The public bath was clean and enjoyable after a long day of sight-seeing but the attendant did not speak English, so it was difficult to understand how to use the facility.

On a nice day, check out the Sky Chapel for incredible views of Tokyo Bay.

Ok, let me first say I didn't pick this place. My company did. I could take solace in the fact that we all were suffering together.

Chances are the only reason you'd go to Makuhari is because you're attending a convention there. Thats what I was doing there. This review is going to be brief.

The bathroom is one single unit of molded plastic with the sink and mirror outside, its like a mobile home bathroom. The carpets and furniture are stained. Ask for a non-smoking room.

The beds are small, thin and short and for some reason, there was no top sheet, just a "duvet."

The climate control system is horrible. Its ok at night, but in the morning, when the light streams through the windows, it heats up.

I called down down for an iron...surprise, they don't have irons.

the pluses..free wi-fi and a barely passable breakfast. also, there are 2 golds gyms with in walking distance and a laundry facility at the hotel. Also, the little mermaid bakery in the train station is good.
