“Great views”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

Museum is very small - not much things to see. Can try some black eggs, lots of souvenir shops and beautiful nature.

“Hot steam valley”
Reviewed 4 July 2014

Owakudani is situated halfway between Gora and the Tojendai station on lake Aishi. The ascent from Sounzan is especially dramatic where once the ropeway reaches the top ridge, Fujiyama-san in good humor can make us all gape in awe!
The view of Fuji-san is so majestic from Owakudani! The next day, however, Fuji-san was sulking behind the clouds and wouldn't come out even though we waited for 2 hours.

“Interesting area”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

Inside the Hakone Volcano cauldron. Nice walk. Visited on a cool day. No handicap access to the steam vents. I was really surprised the souvenir shops did not take credit cards.

“Black Eggs and Steam”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

Great fun. Doesn't take that long but a nice stroll, some sulphurous pongs and a black egg to munch on at the end of it. What's not to like?

Great as part of the whole Hakone circuit, but if you have the choice pick a clear day for the view of Mount Fuji, which must be impressive.

We wouldn't know.

“Interesting, but don't go in summer”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

It was very interesting to be in a live and active volcano. The view from the ropeway which travels directly over is fairly good, however making the trek up the trail on foot in a must. In summer the heavy rain clouds and thick haze means that Mount Fuji cannot be seen- would be best to go in another season to get a fantastic view of the Mount Fuji as well.
