This was my family's fourth onsen ryokan experience, and by far the best. We had a bath in our room, which was great for the kids to play with during the day, and allowed for a shared bath in the evening. The views are breathtaking, and it's very calming to bathe while peering out over the green valley.
As someone who loves japanese food, and good food in general I was very happy to have the kaiseki dinner. Honestly, one if the best dinners I've had in Japan (not considering 20000+ yen dinners in tokyo).
The service was also really nice, they tried their best and I didnt find the language to be any problem.
If there's anything to remark upon, maybe it's the onsen water itself. It's warm and nice but doesn't feel like it is very rich in minerals. Although for me this is a minor point.
