“Good hotel, but the newer part is looking a little dated”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2014

I stayed here for 3 nights during a conference taking place in Yokohama. The company I was accompanying booked it for me. Looking at the tripadvisor pictures here, I didn't even realize that there was an old historic part since I stayed in the new tower which I thought was the hotel.

Good location right near the local subway station and steps from the waterfront and Chinatown.

Fast check-in and very polite service from everyone. I stayed on the 13th floor facing the harbour so you get a great view of the water. The room was looking a little dated, but everything is in good condition and good working order. The room was gigantic compared to my hotel in Tokyo. The bed was big and comfortable. Breakfast was not included. The wifi in the hotel is very fast and has good connectivity.

I didn't spend too much time in the hotel here since I was busy with the conference, so if you are just looking for a decent hotel to stay at and looks don't matter to you so much, this is a reliable hotel, if a little on the pricey side, But overall, is was good, so I can recommend it.

This was our third stay at this hotel. We stayed in regular guest rooms, and we found it satisfactory. This time, we tried a premier room (from 15th to 17th floor). The room 1511 looked a little larger than the rooms we used before, and the view was great (we had a Minato-Mirai view).

We were allowed to use the lounge on the 16th floor, where we had coffee, read newspaper, and used a PC.

Their service was great as always. We requested a humidifier for our room, and they brought it immediately.

I strongly recommend a premier room of this hotel to those who wish to relax in a classy atmosphere and enjoy the benefit of being close to major sightseeing spots.

We normally stay in the Minato Mirai area of Yokohama, but we may have found a new location. If you want to experience the crowded hustle and bustle of modern life, then Minato Mirai is perfect with its futuristic look, expansive food choices, range of shopping and picture perfect scenery. (Commercials, videos and movies scenes are shot here frequently) If you want more quiet, yet accessibility to everything, this hotel has it. The more luxurious sister of the Monterey Hotel next door, this one has 2 historic floors worth visiting itself. (The new lobby is boring) The rooms in the tower are large, luxurious and afford views over the Harbor, there is nothing wrong with anything here. The gate to Chinatown is a block away... You won't find steak or Burgers here, but Chinese, Japanese food of every specialty all with a 1 km square block. Dim Sum heaven, though avoid the cheap places... This is where often street vendors exceed the sit down restaurants... One thing and one thing well.
The metro station is around the corner from the hotel and runs very frequently. Minato Mirai is 2 stops away and downtown Tokyo about 45 minutes straight shot. The Red Tram stops in front of the hotel and is perfect for 300 yen to spend a day seeing Yokohama. Great way to start your visit.

Room Tip: Upper floor, facing north, then you have harbor and straight shot views of the colorful Minato Mirai...

I have seen a lots of discrepancy comments about rooms. In october I was there, and realized that`s depend where you book you reservation: at main building ( a little old furnitures) or at new building ( new furniture, nice view, larger room).

I booked a room via their English website which clearly stated "Breakfast included".
The reservation confirmation email gives very little details in comparison to other hotels.
So I sent an email asking for verification and the reply came that "Breakfast is not included"
and listed several locations within the hotel for breakfast with their prices.
I consider this misrepresentation and cancelled my stay.

Room Tip: Get verification of what you booked.

This was a great choice, service impeccable room clean and large. We had harbor view which was great. Absolutely no complaints. Breakfast buffet with a stunning view over the water. Hotel is old style but very charming and rooms seem to have been kept up to date. Nice place to come for a family trip.

This was our first time at this property. It was an excellent choice. It is very convenient to Chinatown which was one of the main goals of our trip. Very convenient for cruises of the bay and transit by water taxi to other parts of Yokohama. The restaurants were excellent. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. Highly recommend this property.
