My Japanese friend who lives in Kamakura took me to this restaurant for a lunch during my last home coming trip to Japan. My friend is a foody and this restaurant is one of her favorite restaurants in this area. First of all, driving from Kamakura area to Yokosuka along side with the ocean was so beautiful and this restaurant is located right in front of the ocean view. Inside of the restaurant has much nicer atomosphere than exterior with interior in darker colors from old world. My friend made a reservation and we were seated by the window. Lucky us! We could enjoy watching the view with Mt. Fuji and the ocean. Highly recommended to make a reservation to get this table. We each ordered a lunch set starting with green salad with local fresh fish, wich was as good as sashimi at high end sushi bars, Italian style noodles with local fish for main, and 2 kinds of flans and coffee for desert. This restaurant is famous for the flans. All well prepared, delicious and generous serving. As living in the U.S., I oftentimes find Japanese serving is much smaller, but, not at this restaurant. Price was about 3,000 yen to 4,000 each. Free parking available.

I have been going to this restaurant fairly regularly for at least 15 years and I've never been disappointed. The food, service and atmosphere are top-notch. There are about 7 tables in the main area and each one seats at least 4 people fairly comfortably. The tables are made of sturdy wood and so are the seats. Don't know the type of wood, however. There's usually soft music filling the area. It's at just the right volume and doesn't scream at you like in some places. The preferred genre seems to be jazz. There is a piano in the place and one young girl seemed intent on practicing her skills for a short time but it wasn't bothersome. This place caters to everyone, so there will possibly be children, and large families there. The staff are very courteous but I'm not sure if any of them speak English or if they have menus in English. The seafood fare is delicious with offerings such as crab with spaghetti in tomato sauce and seafood salad with chunks of abalone and white fish. Really delicious. They also have several craft beers, but ,sorry, I can't remember the names and I did not try them. The Italian sparkling drinks taste a little like ginger ale, but better, and they are a little pricey at 750 yen, but I loved the flavor. They have a wide selection of puddings in their own personalized glasses that you can keep as souvenirs or sell back to the establishment ( I don't know how much they pay you for them). The parking is severely limited at the restaurant (to about 8 vehicles) but there is additional parking about a minute away. The road is steep going to both parkings so beware if you are in a low-to- the-ground vehicle. From almost all of the tables, there is a great view of Mt. Fuji which is about 40 miles away. You can also get seating on the small terrace facing the street, and, here, your view will be just about unobstructed. On the opposite side of the street, about 100 meters to the left, is the Tateishi Parking, which is an open lot that holds about 40 cars. You can park there and go for a walk in the adjacent small park or go down to the beach for a swim and explore the various rock formations along the coast. Note that this is the "honten," which means main (used for stores, restaurants, offices, etc). There are two other restaurants, located in nearby Zushi city. Getting to this place can be a chore. It is located within Yokosuka city, but the area is called Minami Hayama. It's on the main prefectural road, Rt. 134, but there is no train access. The bus runs out there but it would be more than an hour's ride from Yokosuka base and you'd probably have to change buses somewhere. That said, it's a beautiful spot and I highly recommend it.

MARLOWE is located near the Sagami bay. We can see beautiful ocean, sunset, and Mt,Fuji!!! This view is soooo beautiful!!

And, their food is good. MARLOWE use natural fish from the Sagami bay, and fresh vegetable from the croft in Miura, Kanagawa. So, their foods are very delicious! I recomenned "seafood salad". This is hearty meal!

And, their pudding is VERY famous!!! In fact, this pudding get the NO.1 of the ranking,"popularity of Back-oder" from NIKKEI news paper. There are many kinds of pudding, so you can enjoy tasting a number of times!!
