“Nice but overrated and overdeveloped.”
Reviewed 9 June 2013

The falls were nice, but nothing special. (And I really like waterfalls). Yutaki Falls were much more impressive and beautiful. Also, it was too developed and there were too many tour groups.

“Ryuzu Waterfall”
Reviewed 28 May 2013

The name of this waterfall means "dragon's head" as the view is said to represent the same. The fall is accessed by bus, car, or taxi. In true Japanese-convenience fashion, there is a parking lot at the bottom and at the top of the fall. There is a well maintained path and staircase that visitors can get several views of the waterfall and surrounding scenery. Expect to compete with many cameras and tripods. Most of the amateur photographers, who are using professional equipment for some reason, will move for visitors to enjoy the view. The fall is very beautiful but there are better falls to be seen. My recommendation is Kegon and Yudaki. Lake Chuzenji and Lake Yunoko are also nearby. Autumn and Spring are the best times of the year to see the fall.

“Ryuzu Falls”
Reviewed 12 May 2013

Beautiful waterfalls and a free parking lot nearby. The path is well paved and you can follow the falls all the way up to the top. There is also a nature trail that looked quite interesting but we didn't have time to explore.

“A hidden delight”
Reviewed 19 January 2013

A smaller set of falls with a great shop at the base. The highlight is the walk that goes up behind the falls. A well made path with steps and seating. You get a great view of Lake Chuzenji on the way. If you got to the falls by bus (bottom bus stop) - you can wait for the next bus at the top of the falls - you do have to walk back down again. Vise-versa if you cam the other way.
Include on your exploration of the sights from Nikko to Yumoto-onsen. Easily fit in the falls and walk between buses.

“Average waterfall”
Reviewed 10 December 2012

The scenery at the end of the autumn is still okay, although most of the colorful leaves were gone. The waterfall itself is nothing special on an international waterfall 'level'. For Japanese standards its very okay.
