best to hike along the lake to reach it, but there is also a bus stop at the top of these falls. Very nice and interesting waterfall cascade.

very popular waterfall with shuttle-bugs so be prepared to jostle for your shot! the souvenir cum restaurant provides hikers a place to refuel with some pretty good soba. another popular item seems to be zouni, a type of fried rice cake/mochi that is steeped in a simple dashi stock and eaten with yasai.

Very nice but not as beautiful as Kegon waterfalls. Not worth a trip there only to see it but certainly worth it if you're already in the area.

The above website provides accurate information on where to catch the peak 'koyo' (autumn colour) around Japan. You may want to get your Japanese speaking friend to help out.
Ryuzu Waterfall was peaked during the week of October 16 in 2013. It is about 1 hour 15 minutes from Nikko train station, 20 minutes from Chuzenji onsen station.
The bus stop is located at the final drop (also the most scenic part) of the fall, if time allows, you may want to walk upstream along the well paved walkway. It takes about 25 minutes to walk up to the top of the fall which hits the upper end of the bus route.
There is a small shop at the vista point for snack.
If you are taking the bus, be sure to time yourself for the next bus before walking around.

We were unable to see anything at Kegon Falls due to the heavy fog and therefore made our way to Ryuzu Waterfall.
It was worth everything!
Surprisingly the waterfall was not covered by the fog and we were treated to an amazing sight of beautiful autumn colours. Recommended to take the flight of stairs up as at every point, you are treated to a different view of the fall.
