Stayed two nights in May. It is really easy to find if you take the train. Cons: mattress a bit hard and pillows lumpy. Lingering smell of old smoke in the lower area by the onsen (public bath area). The lights are controlled by the room key card. Even though we obtained a second card it inactivated the first so still only had one useable card which was a pain with two people coming and going at different times. Now for the Pros. The staff was fantastic. The hotel was very clean as was the Onsen with great hours ( Male/Female separated). The Onsen has an indoor and outdoor section. We ate dinner there because the restaurant takes credit cards (not every where does in this area including the local grocery store). Japanese set meal ran around 2100 yen and the breakfast buffet was around 1800 yen-it went up in cost the second day which was closer to the weekend. Food was varied and tasty. We didn't find the room significantly small compared to others in Japan. The bathroom was very well equipped and had full size shampoo/conditioner/bath gel. Although on the main street it was very quiet-we kept the window open at night because we couldn't figure out the air-conditioning and weren't motivated enough to get help. The hotel is directly across from the JR rail station which is next to the Tobu rail and bus station. This made it convenient for obtaining tourist information and purchasing day trip bus tickets. There is a bus stop across from the hotel to ride to the temples or you can walk about 25 minutes up a hill. Lots of small restaurants in the area, grocery store nearby. Post office and bank for money exchange about 15 minute walk up the hill towards the shrines. I read that this area can get extremely busy in the fall and cherry blossom seasons.

Great location to have as a starting point for touring Nikko which has a comprehensive and easy to use bus system for tourists. Hotel is immaculately clean and seems fresh: the staff very helpful. The room was cramped, even by Japanese hotel standards, and its amenities were basic.
However the buffet breakfast was excellent value and is recommended.

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night and chose the place because of its proximity to the Nikko Train Station. Here's what we liked about the place: 1) The onsen was open and it was wonderful (both indoor and outdoor options for men and women) - the hours were great too, 2) the location was great as it's literally a 3 minute walk to the bus station which takes you to all of the temples, 3) The breakfast was good as it served both western and Japanese food options, 4) the staff were very keen to help even if their English wasn't that great, 5) The room was very comfortable and a nice size considering how small rooms can be in Japan. I would definitely stay here again if I was going to Nikko. I would recommend this place for business travellers, vacationers of all ages, couples and families.

Room Tip: Make sure you purchase the 2 day nikko pass as it'll take you everywhere. Try to get a room facing the side with the bus station as you can get a pretty good view of the mountains.

Stayed here during April for 2 nights in a single room. Quite small but everything you needed, looked like it had been recently updated. The onsen was a wonderful experience and I went on the two nights. An excellent way to relax after a long trip and a full day seeing the Temple, bridge and waterfalls. Opposite the JR station and also the bus stop to help you travel around? All staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was excellent with western and eastern dishes to choose from. Would recommend this hotel to see the amazing sights if Nikko.

This hotel is as close to Nikko JR as you can get. The room was fine, Japanese business style. The desk staff were hyper-helpful. Restaurant staff were 'ok' too. The breakfast buffet was fine - Japanese interpretation of western, so don't expect fantastic bread rolls. The 'onsen' is outdoor, separate genders, and is a lovely relaxing hot pool. It is somewhat of a hike to the shrines; depending on the weather, check out the buses from Tobu railway station - 200 m up the hill. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
