“The smallest room ever, but excellent location”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

This is a hotel with the smallest bed we had in Japan – only 120cm for two of us! Location is very good – only 5 min walk from the train station and 15 minutes from the park and major attractions in Nara, in a very nice street with a lot of restaurants and shops. Girls at reception were friendly. The room was tiny, with a window which could not open at all. Very clean, as everywhere in Japan. For one night, the hotel is ok.

The hotel is well located a short walk from the JR train station on a street with a number of restaurants and shops and about a 15 minute walk from the Deer Park and shrines. The rooms are "tired" and could use some refreshing. They are, however, clean. As this is a business hotel, the majority of travelers tend to be Japanese businessmen, which means that the hotel does not have many amenities. We only stayed in this hotel for one night as we visited Nara just to see the temples and shrines, specifically the Todai Shrine which is gorgeous. The hotel staff tried to be helpful but as their English was limited and our Japanese not very proficient, communication was not easy. As in many Japanese hotels, the rooms were small and the pillow was rock hard. The hotel is fine for a brief stay but certainly nothing special.

Strange check-in as for the first time in Japan (5th Hotel we had) we were asked to pay the room in advance. Right after we paid they also told us, as described in previous reviews, there may be noise during the night.
However, we almost didn't hear anything. The room was small but clean.
Overall an average hotel I can recommend for stays of one night in Nara.

Location is close to JR Nara, 5 minutes walk, there is Lawson convenience store next to entrance and 24hrs open; main street had a lot of restaurants; also 7 minutes walk to subway. Service very attentive, you can borrow free wifi in room from reception, first come first serve, check-in time is at 2pm very rigid but they are nice. Check out time is 10am. Room size is tiny cannot fit big luggage, also please dun expect excellent view. But in terms of room rate it is reasonable.

We stayed here overnight and all seemed quite happy with our stay. When we checked in the booked us in and made us pay, then they told us that there would be works at midnight which was a bit annoying taking our money then telling us.

However, we went to our room which overlooked where the road works would be. the room was very small but clean fine for one night.

The road works started at about 10pm but after closing the shutter we could barely hear a thing a fell to sleep so cannot complain.

The hotel is really well located and i recommend going for a morning jog to the Buddha temple before it gets too busy. You can do a 6km loop where the Buddha temple is the midway point.

There was no WIFI int he hotel

Was at this hotel for a conference being held in the Nara park conference centre and found it very handy. Within 5 mins walking from Nara train station, on the main street with lots of places to eat and drink to be found minutes from the entrance. Rooms are very clean, bed is comfortable and I was happy with the breakfast with both a Japanese and American/European option.

On the face of it a modern hotel in a good position equally placed from the Station and Nara Park on a main street with plenty of shopping and eating spots.
We were booked into a tiny double up single room at the front and were not greatly impressed but it was cheap. However , a few minutes after we got to the room we received a phone call to tell us "construction work was due to start at midnight outside and therefore we should expect a some disturbance". They apologised they had not told us as we booked in at reception.
We went back down to reception and asked for the room to be changed. There was a reluctance (that I put down to translation) to help as no other small rooms were available. It was only after insisting on a change regardless of size they came up with a fairly grubby smoking room three floors higher at the rear.We reluctantly accepted this but felt a bit 'fobbed off'.
So under normal circumstances I would say 3 , but in this case I felt 2really represents the hotel ( You get a real sense of the place and its staff when theres a problem that needs sorting).

Room Tip: Ask for a rear room
