The room was very spacious with a traditional Ryokan feel. The dine in room dinner experience was unique with dressing gowns provided. The osen is a major bonus being less crowded than normal. Lastly it is walking distance to Nara park.

A wonderful traditional Japanese ryokan with a great onsen. Beautifully located in the heart of Nara near all the temples and the shopping street. Fantastic customer service with great friendly and nice team. Traditional rooms with tatamis. Great traditional Japanese breakfast. Superb experience!

In common with other reviewers, main comment would be that this hotel has seen better days. On plus side, it is walking distance (5-10 mins) to the park and about 20 mins to Todaji temple (a must see). On down side, rooms are a bit musty and really strong cigarette smell in most of the corridors. Friendly staff. Breakfast was plentiful (Japanese breakfast was good) but really strange combination of food if you order the Western breakfast - toast and jam, sweet corn soup and spaghetti with tomato sauce are main items. Very late check in at 3.30 and early check out (10am) also makes it less good value than other Nara options.

It's a basic 3 star ryokan - to be honest we were a bit disappointed in the accomodation compared to other places we stayed in Japan - it wasn't value for money. While the public bath was quite good and breakfast was a good experience- the rooms were a bit tired, there was cigarette odour in reception and in some corridors - scratches on cupboards etc The location is pretty good - but a good 20 minute walk from the JR rail and about a 15 minute walk to the park and 5 minute to restaurants. It's ok but I wouldn't stay here again - do more research and find something better value for money more recently updated.

Very welcoming staff and very attentive. Room was large and basic but well appointed; only possible con is the size of the bathroom which was small but adequate. Food was very good, both breakfast and dinner; dinner was served int he room which was a nice touch. Ryokan is approximately 15 minutes from the Nara train station when walking, but only a few minutes by taxi. Overall a very comfortable stay.
