Of the sites to see outside of Nara Park, this one stands out as the most unique since it has actually the palace building which is of very different architecture from the other temples you'll see in the city. Do not make the same mistake as me and think you can walk here from the Yamato Saidaiji metro stop - you cannot! The only roads are restricted to pedestrians, so come either by taxi or better yet the bus.
