My cousin and I stayed here while she was visiting Japan and we really liked it. We thought it was just going to be the same as every other business hotel in Japan but it is different. The rooms are standard for Japan, almost no room to stand up. There's a cool garden just off the lobby with waterfalls and is very nice to watch. The staff were friendly and got an English speaker to help us out when we had some communication problems. It is very close to the drinking area but far enough away that we could sleep without hearing the drunks all night. The shrine next door is huge. I also like the big park across the street. On the Saturday of our visit there were a bunch of tents out with young people selling things.
The restaurant was unexpectedly good. We had a fantastic appetizer of oysters in champagne and butter and I recommend it highly.
There's a relaxation area with some nice baths. They weren't natural onsen but the water has some healing properties apparently. Definitely worth a try after hiking the volcano!
