We stayed at the Route Inn for 1 night before our flight home from Okinawa. The location is very convenient for Okinawa Port, a taxi cost us 800 Yen. The hotel lobby is cool and attractive, and the staff checked us in quickly. There are 3 computers with free internet which was very useful.
Our room was very clean but unfortunately very small. Having lived in Japan for about a year I'm aware that hotel rooms are generally smaller than Western visitors would expect, however the size of the room was not consistent with the hotel's price! There was nowhere for us to put our suitcases apart from at the foot of the bed, no bedside table, ugly green decor and a funny smell.
The bathroom in particular was very tiny, with a cloakroom toilet that has to be sat on sideways. The shower is over the bath which makes the bathroom feel even more claustrophobic.
The final aspect which made our stay less than ideal was location. It's 10 minutes to Asahibashi, the nearest monorail station, and about 20 to International Street. In the Okinawa heat, pulling your suitcase, this is not great! Apart from the disappointing rooms and location the hotel was fine, with surprisingly comfy beds, good aircon and a decent breakfast. It's just a shame we felt like we could have had a better hotel for the same price.More
