“Great Business Hotel in Naha”
Reviewed 10 December 2011

A very good business hotel right smack in Naha near Kokusai-dori and 10 minutes to the airport. Clean, efficient and good value.
Will definitely return.

Since we arrived quite late in the day, we stayed here with our twin babies for one night before heading out to the beaches in Okinawa. We had booked a prepaid reservation through Rakuten Travel (an on-line booking site) for 8400 yen, which is a huge deal, especially as it was the last night of Golden Week. We had booked it despite the limited information on Tripadvisor (you'll note all the other reviews prior to this point are in Japanese) based on the price and the overall ratings given by other travelers.

The taxi had no problem finding "The Richmond Hotel" (cost about 1200 yen). The style of the place is more modern and very clean. It's not a place you go to for atmosphere, but simplicity and efficiency. Check-in was very smooth and courteous (and she offered us our choice of little toys for the babies from a basket, which was sweet). Her English was quite good, and if she didn't understand something, she would say, "Excuse me", duck into a backroom, and I *think* she was actually looking up the translation of what we asked. Clientele seemed an even mix between businessmen, couples and families (both Japanese and foreigner).

Our room was a standard double room with a full bathroom. While it was small, it was very clean and efficiently laid out, and we had room for our two Peapod travel beds, double stroller (unfolded up) and could still walk around, albeit carefully :-). The bathroom was spotless, with a full bath, a sink with a large ledge (room to put stuff!) and a toilet with one of those heated seats and built in bidets. What I especially love about Japanese hotels is the fact that they make it really easy to stay in their hotels--free internet and all sorts of amenities (like combs, toothbrushes and toothpaste, Shiseido facial soap) and even pajamas you can wear for the night. It's also quite centrally located--we were able to find diapers within a block, there were tons of restaurants in the area, and within 2 blocks of the monorail. Finally, for those who are on longer trips through Japan, it looks like there are coin-op laundry facilities onsite.

In short, what I liked best: the value for the price. What I liked least: nothing I really disliked--would have been nice to have more room, but this is Japan!
