“Very peaceful”
Reviewed 22 March 2014

Stumbled here by accident after a visit to Shuri Castle. Didn't realise it was popular enough to actually be an entry on TripAdvisor, especially given the fact that there was not a single other person around the whole time I was here (about 45min). There are no signs directing people here either, and the entrance is a very inconspicuous flight of stone steps. This short path ends on the main road. Walking here was exceedingly calming, definitely appreciated after the crowds at the Shuri Castle.

“Favorite Site on Way to Shuri Castle”
Reviewed 16 May 2013

A great way to avoid traffic on the way to Shuri Castle, is to walk around Ryutan Pond. Parking is convenient, reasonable and your vehicle is secure. Before reaching the main entrance to Shuri, look for a Lawson's Convenience store. Parking lots are available behind and, on both sides of Lawson's, Then, if you enjoy taking photos, bring along a camera. There's wildlife to observe in the pond and plenty of shade as you walk towards the castle. No entrance fee for access and there are drink machines, restrooms and park benches along the way. I even enjoy visiting at night, when the castle is closed but, lighted. You can get some terrific photos. Highly recommended to all my friends visiting Shuri.
