“Important But, Little Known UNESCO Site”
Reviewed 14 March 2012

It only takes a minute to see but, many travelers miss this UNESCO site on their way to Shuri-jo Castle. It is a very important cultural asset dating way back to the 16th Century. There's no charge to visit and it is a teriffic photo opportunity. The place where the Ryukyu Royalty stopped to pray for a safe return from any journey, the stone gate guards a sacred grove. Weather permitting, and when the light is favorable, it's a great place to stop for a second and snap a photo to add to your collection of World Heritage Sites.
A rest area with bathroom facilities, parking and food all are all nearby and the area is easily accessible to strollers or wheelchairs.
