Upon arrival to the stark exterior of this hotel one is left wondering quite where the harbour view had gone?…welcome to the Crowne Plaza Harbourview Naha!

After entering this dated building a warm arrival was awaiting both me and my travelling companion, to say that the reception staff could not have delivered any more was something of an understatement. We were upgraded to a superior high floor room. A gift was presented in lieu of our Royal Ambassador status although we certainly did not expect this.
Despite the atrocious weather conditions outside (Typhoon kompaso) we quickly warmed to these new surroundings, after being shown to our room by the eager to please receptionist who had checked us in we eventually managed to close the door.
Our room had a nice comfortable bed, excellent internet speed (free) and a rather interesting kettle come hot water dispenser?…all in all excellent value for money well worth 4 stars, and if I am honest could probably put many higher tier Intercontinental hotels to shame……so that’s a thumbs up from us!

Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights during our trip to Okinawa. We payed about 8000 JPY per night for a standard twin room, which was a real bargain. The normal price however, is closer to 25000 JPY, which in my opinion is not that much of a bargain...

Upon arrival we were greeted and our bags were carried to our room. Check-in was quick and easy, but no English was spoken by the desk clerk. Not a big deal as I speak basic Japanese, and my girlfriend is Japanese, but I would have expected English-speaking staff at a major hotel in Okinawa...

The room itself was quite spacious, certainly by Japanese standards, and very clean. Flatscreen TV in the room had the usual Japanese channels and American Armed Forces Network, which was a pleasant surprise...

The hotel has a travel information service which we used often and was extremely helpful. From helping us find the nicest beaches in the area to looking up the bus schedules, the helpful staff had all the answers!

The only problem we encountered was at check-out. We booked through the InterContinental Hotels group website and chose a prepayed fare. At the hotel however we were told that because this hotel is owned by the ANA Group there is some problem with the online booking engine... After talking to the (assistant ?) manager (in Japanese - again no English spoken) I handed over my credit card and prayed I wouldn't be charged twice. I wasn't... I'm not sure if I should blame the hotel or the ICH group, but this is a misunderstanding that never should have happened...

As for the location: near a monorail station (but a bit of an uphill walk), and near Kokusai street. An excellent location!

This hotel was reserved directly off the ICH group website where the best rate was found. It was slightly more expensive than other hotel stays in Japan at about 25k Yen per night for a triple room. This did, however, include an excellent breakfast buffet and a late check-out of 1400 after asking nicely at the reception.

The hotel is in walking distance from the metro station after taking the monorail from the airport. It is a bit out of the way from the main strip in Naha itself, which itself is nothing special. It is best to have a car on Okinawa Island – international driving license is REQUIRED!

The room was very well appointed and quite spacious with three single, proper beds – not a rollaway. The room was very clean as is typical with Japanese rooms and also had a good internet connection after some effort from the staff to fix it in our room and some toying on our part. The staff invited us to use the computer in the business centre for free during our attempts to fix the connection in our room. There was an excellent flat screen television.

The value-add experience of this hotel was the concierge service of the hotel which is an office area within the reception. The English speaking staff were most helpful in advising on things to do on the island, transport and even calling hotels on our behalf. The staff member spent nearly one hour with us and this was of great assistance.

I would stay at this hotel again in Naha or would try a hotel closer to the downtown area.

My husband and I visit Naha once or twice a year, and have stayed at more than half a dozen hotels in Naha. Of all the hotels within walking distance to Kokusai Street, Naha's main shopping strip, the Harborview Hotel is by far the best. It's located on a hill amid a quiet residential area, away from heavy traffic and noise, and you can get a good view depending on what floor your room is. The hotel staff is very friendly and accomodating; with the same kind of service you would enjoy at the top hotels in Tokyo. Our standard room was larger than those of other Naha city hotels, but in need of new carpeting and wallpaper. The bathroom was rather small, although the toilet was recently upgraded (with washlet).
The Harborview serves the best breakfast buffet in Naha! In addition to the usual fare of eggs, sausages, variety of breads and waffles, they serve Okinawan dishes (changes daily) and unusual local fruit like dragonfruit. They also had an awesome salad bar as well as desserts from the hotel bakery, such as blueberry pie. If you prefer something different, try the dim sum breakfast buffet served at the hotel's Chinese restaurant.
This hotel also has a business center (a rarity for Naha hotels) where hotel guests can use Internet at no charge.
