“Good Japanese-styled western hotel not near to monorail stop”
Reviewed 31 March 2014

Like previous reviewers, I agree that this hotel has a very old-style elegant touch to it. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The service staff speaks halting English but they were extremely helpful and nice.

There was no desk in the room I stayed in, so don't expect to work or write from a desk.
I read in some sites that they don't have WiFi but it's not true. They have a good WiFi connection.

The mattress are not the usual fluffy and thick-padded ones in some western hotels but they still give me a good sleep.

What I find strange is that there is a price list that includes prices for the bottled water (the usual type) and tea/coffee packets which I would expect to be free in any other hotel. After enquiring at the reception, they told me that the bottled water is free.

As breakfast is part of our package, we can choose to have it at either the Japanese or French restaurant. The French restaurant have very good Egg Benedict (not on all days) along with a good buffet spread while the Japanese restaurant offers an exquisite Japanese breakfast rice/porridge set with fish as the main dish. Both of them taste good and these two choices give us some variety in our breakfast.

If walking is not your strong point, then I recommend that you stay somewhere else near to monorail stops instead. Of course, it is recommended if your main mode of transport is by car or taxi, then the location is pretty central to the main sites in Naha.
We enjoyed the walk through the neighbourhood, although it can be quite a chore to walk back after a long tiring day. It is a roughly 15 mins walk to the nearer Omoromachi monorail stop. It is about a 20 mins walk to International Street and 5 mins walk to Naha Main Place Mall and the Okinawa Provincial Museum.

Overall, the hotel is very good and peaceful with an old-style Japanese charm. Worth giving it a try if you considered the above.

The Naha Terrace is a small intimate hotel with excellent restaurants and a great location. The surrounding garden is lush and lovely. The hotel rooms need an update, but the staff is friendly and helpful.

We stayed for 4 nights in March and loved that the hotel had a beautiful executive lobby area with breakfast, afternoon tea and evening wine and bites as an offering. I would definitely recommend this hotel - especially if you are looking to get away from the business of the commercial areas.

This is an elegant Japanese hotel, a good place to stay if you're in Okinawa and want to avoid the heavy ex-pat feel around the bases or at some of the ocean resorts. The staff are polite to a fault, and the overall sense here is one of style and orderliness (they obviously do a lot of local meetings and weddings here - the grounds are very pretty and very tastefully planted and decorated). That said - there are some drawbacks. For one - there is no gym or even exercise room (there is a lovely though somewhat small pool area). We were put in a room (as a couple) with two beds pushed together - the mattresses were typical for Japanese hotels - thin and not very soft. There were amenities available - but everything at a cost (for example there were gyms at other terrace hotels in the area - but the charge was 35k yen to use them). Food was quite expensive - 25k yen for the breakfast (though there were many small places nearby to pick up coffee and breakfast food reasonably). The location is great - about a 15 min walk to the major shopping areas and only about 5 min the opposite direction to a nice mall with some limited food choices. In general - this is probably pretty good as hotels here go - but if you're looking for a typical US type business hotel I would look elsewhere.

This review only covers my experience having a short meeting in the cafe of the Naha Terrace hotel. I had to have a meeting with a colleague to discuss some business. We decided to have it over a light lunch and cake as it was the day after Christmas. When we arrived at the greeting area the cafe staff did not even acknowledge us. Although we standing 3 ft from her and looking directly at her. We asked if they were open and she said yes. The staff member proceeded to try to sit us at the first table she seen which was right next to the entrance. I would have been fine with that if all the other tables were occupied but clearly there were five other tables open. She went on to say those tables are for two or more people and she wanted to keep them open. I didn't buy that excuse as it was 3pm and not likely that would all of a sudden receive an onslaught of customers. After some back and forth she finally agreed to let us sit at one of the larger tables. Note: no other customers showed up the entire time we were there.

From here the timeliness and execution of service was okay but nothing to brag about. The Naha Terrace is supposed to be one of the fine hotels on Okinawa so one would think that the staff would be quick to move into action when a customer is near. Perhaps the staff member was new, however, management shouldn't allow staff members to interact with customers until they are fully aware of proper etiquette.

I booked one night at this hotel because I got my traveling dates mixed up and was very glad I did spend one night there as the place is beautiful and service is excellent. The room was spacious, clean and everything was working perfectly. Highlight was the very attentive staff who was always trying to help even if their English is not very good. Would definitely stay there again if the opportunity arises.

We spent two nights in the Naha Terrace in July 2013 as part of a trip around Okinawa. We cannot recommend it highly enough, and commend its staff for truly excellent service.
A comfortable and well appointed room, a speedy check-in and check-out, delicious room service and restaurant service (we ate in three hotel restaurants, our favourite being the teppanyaki), extremely polite and attentive staff. The bar is well stocked and the bar staff are efficient and skilled.
There isn't much English spoken, but this didn't stop the staff helping us organise trips and errands in the least.
We look forward to our next trip.

I once stayed in this hotel. It was a great, satisfying experience though it was not very recent. As I live in Naha, I have since visited its Sushi bar, cafe, and other restaurants from time to time. Each experience has never betrayed my expectation; however, the only problem, is, as everyone states, that everything here is a little costlier than at any other place in Okinawa.
