The rooms here are quite large by Japanese standards. Carpets are clean but old. Restaurant breakfast seems to have tipped toward a more Asian style than from several years ago, which for an American isn’t really a good thing. Staff is very good in English, though, and very accommodating. My room smells like nice cedar, but others said their rooms smelled musty. Not as good as some hotels near Naha, but also much closer to where we need to work, and Okinawa is a VERY slow place to get around on, so location can be important.

Love the all in one service this hotel provides. They collaborated with Toyota Car rental service and you can easily reserved a car fro your stay. They provide Free airport shuttle as well so on 1st day when we arrive late, we took the FREE shuttle to the hotel. When we're recharged the next morning, we picked up our car at the hotel reception and start to explore Okinawa.
Breakfast was really good. It is one of the hotels which offer Japanese style tatami room at a really affordable rate.
Love the bathroom and everything else in this hotel. We will definitely come back here again.

I would also like to praise Naka's san service. She's very prompt in answering my queries via email and proceeded to help us reserve a car for our stay.

Room Tip: high floors.

The room looked very tradition and we loved the sea view from the balcony. The beds were futon style so you need to lay it out yourself. As others have mentioned, the hotel is located on a hill so you should consider renting a car to get there. There were quite a few parking area there but we found the lots to be rather cramped for our car. Overall, we found it to be a stay which is value for money.

1. Free Airport and American Village Shuttle (only at certain times... will explain in the cons)
2. Clean rooms, comfortable clean beds
3. Good views of the land and sea
4. Air conditioning (can't change or alter the air conditioning but it was a comfortable temperature 24/7)
5. Expensive buffet breakfast
6. Great staff, at least one fluent English staff speaker from morning to afternoon but many staff speak enough English to answer basic questions and provide assistance for your stay

1. We agreed with the other reviewers, you need a car if you actually want to see the majority of the island at this location. It is on top of a hill and difficult to get around without transportation. Public transportation (bus, this is available and will get you close to the hotel to and from American Village, but you still have to walk 2 miles from the bus stop to get to the hotel) Taxis are available of course but not at a great price. A taxi from American village to the hotel is about a 18-minute car ride and around 2,000 Yen (20.00 USD)
2. Pool closes at 21:45
3. Depending on your budget, breakfast is expensive (was for us!) 3,000 Yen (around $30 for two people) but you are paying for convenience and a buffet spread which included average American and good Japanese breakfast foods.
4. Shuttle. This was both a pro and a con for us. We found it odd that so few hotels offer airport shuttles, the Grand Mer does which was important for us. This service is a great coup for the Grand Mer because of how expensive an hour taxi ride would be. But they are not a beachfront hotel, so if you want to get to the beach, you have to rely on a rented car, hotel beach shuttle, city bus, or taxi.

The airport shuttle is only offered at 4 different times to and from the hotel. (8:30, 12:00, 16:30, and 22:15. (These are current as of May 2018, call the hotel for the current shuttle times) So if your plane arrives at say 18:00 like ours did, you have to wait 4 hours for the shuttle to come, otherwise you have to pay for that really expensive taxi. Likewise, if your plane departs the airport in Okinawa at 13:00, you still have to take the 8:30 airport hotel shuttle. Our advice would be to try and coordinate your flight to the shuttle times as much as you can, keep in mind there is no airport shuttle option after 22:15.

They have a similar system for their American village shuttle. The shuttle leaves the hotel at 8:30 and returns at 18:30. The morning shuttle is good, but the evening shuttle leaves right at dinner time and sunset which was annoying.
I think what was more frustrating was their unwillingness to coordinate a time at the airport or American Village especially since they know how limited the transportation options are. This is another reason we recommend renting a car if you can swing it.
Renting a car means you can see more of the island rather than just American Village and get to more authentic sites in Okinawa.

Overall, we do recommend, but with significant caveats.
Happy travels!

My 2nd time here. Stayed here for 1 night this time with my family. Not a convenient location and nothing nearby except residential blocks. Aged hotel but all facilities are maintained well from interior to exterior.

Spacious room, private balcony with city view. Wifi not too strong. Comfy beds and shower. Sizeable with full range of facilities. Breakfast acceptable, car parking a little bit tricky. Close to the new Aeon Mall Rycom.

Reasonable priced with comfortable accommodation.
