“Big crowd ouside Dogo onsen”

Bocchan Wind up Clock
Reviewed 4 June 2014

Worth watching this illuminated/animated clock do its thing. We saw it at 7pm but not sure if its hourly. I enjoyed the bathers in the onsen on the 'ground floor'

It was installed 20 years ago to commemorate the eponymous novel by a great Japanese writer Natsume Soseki. Other than that it's just a tourist attraction. Enjoy

The clock is by the tram terminus for Dogo Spa. If your visiting the Spa include time to watch the clock display which is every hour on the hour. Also feel free to soak your feet in the foot spa next to it.

I give it 4 stars because it's free! and it's a nice place to kick off your shoes and enjoy the hot water and watch the clock do it's show.

This is an old clock, and on the hour, it plays music, and figures come out of the clock and spin and such--you've seen these types of clocks in other cities, I'm sure. I would not make a special trip here because this one is not overly fancy, but it's cute, and its theming is Japanese. Kids will like it.
